my a2 that iv slowly modded over 5 months

Or even plastidip!

Full car resprays cost £300 for the A2 from DipYourCar.co.uk - Got my quote but have had to postpone for the moment.

They can even give it a Satin / Gloss / Pearlescent / Metal look.

e.g. Matte White with Red Pearl

£300 ????

I am sorry, but a full spray for £300?? It would cost that to mask everything and prepare it for the spray.

I can really argue because I have not tried to get a quote from them and I can't comment on the quality, but surely it would be far from the quality I would need (correct me if I am wrong please).

A spray without doing the door shuts etc. and without masking the indicators and lights properly would surely look awful.

If I am wrong then "me next please"

£300 does seem cheap, but then Plasti dip does not need that much masking so hope that is the price for an A2.....might get the A2 Black Mat Stealthed all over :) (the wife wont like it, but much more to my taste :) )

Hi

If you current paintwork is pretty poor or if you want a cheap colour change / Matt effect etc and you don't mind devaluing your car significantly, then a £300 "respray" (plastidip) is a great way to individualise your car.
But if remember that anything like this needs a decent masking job of you will see lines of your old paint colour or have overspray on many sections. They may not even do the door shuts etc.
I am not against this but please do consider that the £300 WILL devalue your car and so in the long tin be far more expensive than a wrap or even a respray.

I am certainly not against mods or individualising cars I have done this myself for MOT'd years than done of you gave been alive. Not am I an old fogey who doesn't like modern trends (you couldn't be further from the truth)

I just want to say that if you know the impact and still want up do this, then I am sure you will love it.

But please be aware of the drop on value your car will have.

With a wrap, it can be extreme even and can be removed easily with a half decent respray you will have decent masking.

Preaching over, have fun, it is your car and it is great to make it stand out.

I am sure plastidip can easily be removed ? so it wouldn't really devalue the car ? ( I might be wrong )

These are the wheels I would choose if I was to Euro mod the A2 :

love the schmidt th lines one off my fav as for porshe wheels i was thinking about it as i was going to put tombstone seats in.
im deffo going for a matt brown plasti rap and air ride and have the wheels to match.with no sticker bombing for next years look.
love the lupo btw looks awesome

Know what you mean about dodgy masking etc.....but should be ok as Plasti dip just peals off and yet hard wearing. Not a permanent fix but could last for a few years if maintained.
Not sure it would devalue as I would just take it off if a price could not be agreed :)

But Im thinking this car is staying until implodes ;) so no need to sell.

I'm not sure about the legality of yellow fogs, either.

I looked into that years ago as I run yellow bulbs in the front fog lamps of my Volvo T5. I find yellow light penetrates fog much better than white so I researched their legality heavily. I eventually found a department of transport document stating that fog lights were permitted to be white or yellow so seems to be fine.

There are a large number of A2OC members who like their A2's to be "pure" and frown on the slightest deviation from the norm! I remember the "stick" that I received following when I revealed my illuminated front Audi badge! I have mentioned before about how cars in the past were readily customised .... "Custom Car" magazine, from the 1960's .... I had every issue! Well, I find this so very refreshing and interesting! That seat colour is my absolute favourite! Tan leather! Wow! Now you have just got to cover the arm-rests in the same material! I have done this (and the rest of the door panels, too!) I can help anybody, here, with technique ... At the moment, those seats just don't look integrated. The steering wheel, handbrake and gear-knob/gaiter? I don't care how much it would have cost, but if it was my car, then I would have got those covered in tan, too! Do you know?, although my car is a similar grey leather everywhere and the dash is in beige (twist), I would dearly love to change just the items I have outlined for that gorgeous tan colour! Oh, my dash will soon have to come out, because it has not been fitted correctly by an Audi Dealership! Whilst removed, I had considered getting it clad in the same light-grey leather that has been used for my door-panels ... Who did do the work on your seats, and at what cost? Anyway, I admire what you have done .... keep it up!

It' plasti dip so it's cheaper to spray and a lot easier. A total of 7 coats is roughly needed.

I plasti dipped my rims, badges and did a few things for friends here and there. It's about the normal price.

The owner of DYCUK is experienced and I trust his work. Have seen it on the DYC.com forums. If you were able to attempt it yourself, it would work out even cheaper which is an idea I'm currently toying with. Have a look at their website for more information.

Please also realise it doesn't last as long as vinyl but the upside is lets say the plasti dip gets scratched, you just peel it off of that panel (it is rubber after all), and respray that panel.

Have a look on youtube for more information.

You dont understand my friend. Have a look at this youtube video for a guide to a full respray.

Plastidip automatically peels on the lines of the bodywork. e.g. you spray the whole car and peel the rubber off of the headlights afterwards. It will be a nice clean cut. £300 won't devalue your car at all. You can always get a gloss / pearl look too. I do suggest you have a look into this a bit more and people will see the advantages :) It hasn't taken off in the UK yet as importing the aerosols / paint is a pain due to couriers and their unwillingness to import such explosive things.

With plasti dip, you certainly attain an even finish. I will have my car dipped and will hoppefully bring it to the next meet providing it's all done in time :)

EDIT: Just to be clear, you are correct that the majority of plasti dip jobs don't include the door shuts but I'm sure you can specify it and get a quote. A vinyl wrap normally doesn't include door shuts either. But I personally don't see that as an issue. :)

Hi.

Fair enough, I can see what you mean.

It looks like a pretty interesting product and if you can peel it off when you sell the car it certainly won't devalue the car.

I would imagine that the DIY job may be interesting to do and then it is also up to you as to how nicely you do the edges etc.

So let's see some examples guys, I am interested in the technology / application.
