My A2 "Top spec" project (AKA my Holy Grail)

Just had a trial fit of the headlamps.

I took pictures but my camera was bust so I have to use the phone, so the quality is rubbish.

But hopefully you will get an impression.

The lights off

Lights on (in reality the lines are crisp but the phone lost the detail)
I had to darken the picture a lot to get any detail These are just the "Angel eyes" LED ring, not the xenons.

A closer look at the light on (also darkened)

I can't try out the xenons until I have located a temporary ignition live under the bonnet somewhere, anyone?

This attempts to show how the white LED tube automatically switches to flashing orange when the indicators are turned on

You can see why I never really made it as a professional photographer many years ago!

Hi Steve,

The video is set to private, you'll need to edit the permissions from Youtube so anyone with the link can view.

Thanks for sharing this, the lights look great! :)

Matt.

Sorry, it showed as public when I saved it so I left it as it was, but that was before it had finished loading,

Try it now please?

Don't worry Steve, it's working now!
Just saw the video, they look great!!

Shame I can't make it to AITP. Better luck at another social.

I really like that front on photo.

I havnt seen your car Steve since ADI last year and although it was a nice car then it looked a bit like a chequebook car and lacked the finer details to make it stand out.

I think the work you've put in over the last couple of months although small individually, they have made a massive difference to the way the car looks when all combined and really make it look fantastic.

It really is one of the best A2's out there now.

Hi Steve,

thanks you for those kind words.

I am being careful now too, if I add anything else or make any more small changes it could definitely be a case of "over-egging" the pudding!!!!

So The cosmetic changes will stop now (I have just removed the chrome door handle covers too, now the theme is strictly black and white)

Cheers

In the picture in the dark is your bonnet off? Almost shows how good it would look with a black bonnet ;)

Maybe wrap it then? Bonnet wraps look good and easily reversed?? Try a black bonnet on at A I P

Just wanted to say after seeing the holy grail at AITP it is looking amazing the wheels look alot better now they have black inserts and I have to admit removing the chrome door handles makes it look alot better even though I liked them . And your prototype lights are looking very good indeed . Should of won an award for sure .

Thank you for that.
It means a lot to me that other people like "the project"

There were a lot of A2 s that deserved an award. But I think that the A2 is too quirky for many, too small and not a performance car. But as long as we love them that is all that matters

cheers

What I think is brilliant is that there isn't very much kit/mod wise you can buy for the a2 but we have all made them different/modded in our own way. All the other audis have body kits de badged grills exhaust kits bonnet bra's lights etc but we still manage to keep up even tho we can't buy it of the shelf!!

I rather liked how those chrome door handle covers looked, actually, though can see how you'd want to focus more on the great black/white contrast.

Did they turn out to be a poor fit, or was it just the chrome colour/finish that put you off?

Where did you get them from, by the way, and did you need to remove the handles to fit the covers or do they just go over on top?

Thanks

It was just that the chrome now looked out of place.

They are available on eBay at £10.50 for the set and they just stick on.
They fitted well but did not cover the top and bottome sides of the handle.
But at £19.50 you can try them and if you don't like them there is no great loss.

You our may be able to find the other type that do cover more of the handle but to me these were ok and I liked the effect.

I do think they look better on darker coloured cars
