No electrics urgent help required

Unfortunately not.

Your immobiliser will be unaffected and so the half of your key with the key blade in will be fine, but the other half (the half with the remote locking buttons in) will at the very least need to be programmed using VCDS (a local member might be able to help)

If you are switching from a Q to an AF then your remote half of the key will not be suitable, the AF CCU will not pair to your "Q" keys.

As for sourcing an "AF" have a look on ebay at the prices first and then let me know if you want a cheaper one.

So If I got an af module with 2 keys I could simply swap out the blades in the keys a

I can get an af module for 60 pounds. Is that a good price? Will need my existing keys programming tho as they are q?

As I said, the Q keys will not work with the AF unit. They cannot be coded to them.

My AF units are £50 delivered, or I have a Q one that I could sell you that is currently working, along with one remote half of a key that is paired already to the CCCU for £35 but I need to take it off the car it is on at the moment. You could then get your current second key paired to it by someone.

Okie dokie, I got the car to quickly tart up and move on so I'll go with the 35 pound jobbie for now and if I decide to keep the car il go with an af setup

Sounds like a plan,

I will pop one of the AFs into the donor car and take the q out and get it off and post it (next day delivery) plus a key half, to you mid week if that is OK

PM me your full name and address and I will try to get it off for you tomorrow night.

Just re-reading your post from the top and I think that you may have TWO separate problems. The CCCU does sound like one problem, but that won't affect the fuel flap and could it be that the interior lights are just not coming on when you open the driver's door but come on with the other doors?

Does the mileage light up when you open the drivers door? If not then you have a problem with the driver's door lock electrics, either a dry solder joint or a gunged up / broken micro-switch.
That problem means that the system does not sense the driver's door opening. The fuel flap will not work if the system thinks the driver's door isn't open and it won't switch on the interior lights.

So it might be worth you checking the above, you might need to get to the driver's door lock and fix it too!

Have a read through the "How To" Index there is a LOT of help in there.

There is also one on the driver's door micro-switch

Worth a read !

Hi,

The interior lights don't work on any door or the courtesy lights on the manual switches. The dash lights up fine when the door is open. I thought it might have been door electrics so completely stripped and checked every connection etc.

I'm going to put another CCU in and re evaluate the situation. I only paid scrap money for the car so if it doesn't sort it il strip it and weigh it in

Before you scrap it, put it for sale on here with photos and info as the idea for the forum is to keep the cars on the road and not scrap them (unless they are beyond repair).

I'm definitely going to give it a complete respray. Just not sure whether to go standard colour or do something a bit trick

A colour change can be expensive because of the door shuts etc. But it can transform your car of course.

Often the hardest part of a colour change is actually deciding what colour to choose!!!!:)

You can also reduce the cost significantly by doing as A2Steve did and strip most of the parts off ready yourself.

I own a body shop so will be doing it all myself :) I have got 3 paint mixing schemes so can mix pretty much anything in house so I don't have any limitations
