No electrics urgent help required

Hi,

I bought an Audi A2 the other day 1.4 2001 model.

The electric windows now don't work, nor does the petrol flap, nor the interior lights or the remote central locking.

When I was driving it back the other day the hazard warning lights started going mad and couldn't turn them off.

I've checked all fuses and connections and everything seems good.

I've also stripped the doors down to check for broken wires between pillars and doors and everything is fine.

If you put the electrical tester onto the Interior lights at the unit it all works. If you put power direct to fuse nothing.

Any ideas before I take this car outside and crush it

Sounds like either a bad earth or your battery is shot to bits.. my nephew has a Mini Cooper displayed the same type of errors route cause was the battery had broke down within its self !

Ive had 2 different brand new batteries on it. I've had the CCU out and checked all connections and all seems good.

I first thought an earth problem so checked all of that
The car is also bone dry inside so that eliminates water damage.

The lady who I got it off said the electrics would work Intermitantly

all systems mentioned relate to the cccu (alarm hazards flashing , elec windows central locking etc ) but I'm with boxy on checking battery first as when its totally down with little to no power this can happen

what variation of cccu are you running as the older versions have known issues internally, version letter is at the end of part number printed on cccu

also power for front windows main fuse is behind the left hand a pillar footwell trim 30 amp and there are fuses in main fusebox that also feed cccu circuits worth checking with multimeter 36,39,41,42 as visual inspections do not always find fuse blown

My betting is that the CCCU is a "Q", when they start to fail, they can often become very problematic.

The Hazards "stuck on" is almost certainly due to it actually being the alarm that was going off (the beep is very quiet and owners sometimes disconnect it if they start having CCCU issues affecting the alarm.

I do have some CCCUs available but worth checking all fuses as Mark said before paying out for anything.
No cost options FIRST.

No surprise there!!

DO you have a friendly local member who could swap theirs over to your car so you can get confirmation before parting with money?

It is a 10 minute swap not requiring any programming etc just unplug yours and plug in the trial one?

The remote locking won't work with the swapped unit that DOES need programming, but the windows Interior lights etc. should work.

Worth a try, any local members feeling generous???

The A2 has a part number starting with 8Z and so that normally means they are specific to the A2.

Trying a CCCU that was not designed for the car is too risky, electronics can be easily fried if they are not compatible.

(I have never even looked at a LUPO and so this is just based on assumption and risk)

Just another A2 one unfortunately.
But it can be with any 8Z part number for the test "Q", "AF", "E", "P" etc.

Sweet, il have a look now to source an af module, I take it that everything will work as normal and my existing keys will programme in as normal?
