Problem Continues... Am I Going Mad?

Hello again,

Still having loads of problems with my new A2. Thinking of requesting the full refund, and get another one elsewhere as today I found out that all old problems are all back after the garage working on it for a week!

***Todays Question***
Just realized that the back seat windows don't fully open now, but have they always like that? or am I going insane, coz I thought they did fully open before??

Please put my silly brain at ease, I am spinning here...

Many thanks xx

my rear windows don't fully wind down if that helps?!? ...isn't that child/pet safety feature??? ;)

Deseli is right - the back glass always sits about 3 inches proud.

It's not so much a safety feature as a physical barrier, due to the shape of the arch intruding on the door and the path of the descending glass.

Cheers,

Mike

..I was always told as a child it was a safety feature as most cars rear windows would only wind down about 2/3 of the way...! :( :p

It is probably dressed up as a safety feature by the manufacturers, but in reality it is just that it's a physical impossibility for the glass to go any lower due to the intrusion of the arch.

Sorry to have dispelled any long held child-hood dreams!;)

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Baxxter, I wonder if you are suffering from lack of confidence in the car because of a few niggles. Ive been there and it makes you pick fault in things that are often just not there (e.g. your windows! - I have never had a 5 door car that had rear windows which lowered completely into the door!)
I have read over your last thread and would recommend you look for a member with Vag Com nearby who can scan the car for faults ref the speedo and power issues you are experiencing. This will give you knowledge to negotiate with the selling dealer - (although I cant for the life of me understand why you are threatening your licence and safety by trying to thrash the car over 100mph - save that for a track day) :(

If the cars genuinely riddled with problems, you can press for your rights under sale of goods etc, but all these things dont sound too major, Try and perservere. And stay safe by relaxing the right boot! :D

Phew, so windows are doing what they supposed to do! Good x2. Thank you so much!

>Murdo;

Thank you for your post, I really do appreciate it. My dad always had cars with 5 doors with all windows that opened all the way down. That just got stuck in my head! Silly me :p

I am feeling bad about the car mainly due to the lack of good customer service from the place that sold me the car. I am really not good at when buying cars, I have no idea what to look for, so went for the place who sold cars for a bit of extra price on top, thinking I can trust them (plus my friend sort of recommended them.) But they are just wasting my time, keeping A2 to do whatever they are (not) doing and I ended up paying for rental car etc. which they are not covering. I simply got fed up with them! I'd rather refuse the car now before any more financial damage happens.

I think they said they hired Vag Com and did the work... (Can't tell for sure, as they refused to give me the paper work to show the works done.)

I was doing up to 70mph, and the same thing happened. Doing 70mph on dual carriage way, then onto a slip road to M4, and car struggled to go back up to 70mph for AGES (forget about any speeding here, I was sticking to NSP) and it was VERY scary to drive like that.

And the thumping noise I mentioned in the last thread is back!
Speedo needle pops when going up, and wont come down when slowing down!
There was a false description of the car when advertised (wrong kind of stereo system), of which I asked to make a discount for, and they are not doing it.

I bought it from the place where they do service and MOT, with mechanics, with Audi specialist on call. If the problems are as minor as they (and you) said, how come they can't fix them at all? That's why I want to refuse the car...

First of all, tell us where you are and someone local with a full VCDS can give your car the once over to see if a diagnostic reveals anything.

Apart from this, it seems that there are niggles there that need sorting - the garage sounds a little iffy too - never heard of a bona fide garage having to hire a diagnostic kit!

Cheers,

Mike

Hi!

I am in Hampton area in London, or near Reading in Berkshire. (Home + Work.)
Hope this helps.

Many thanks x

Have a look on the Google map for suitably equipped members in your area and also, post a request thread to see if someone will come to your diagnostic assistance.

Cheers,

Mike

Totally agree. Its a must for any decent garage to have full diagnostics for modern car electronics and refusing to show you the scan is just plain odd. You probably couldnt read what it means, but a trained tech could take you through it. Go with good advice and try and get an independant scan.

I'm on the other side of the M4, at Harrow on the hill. If you come round, I can help you with a basic scan.

Dodgy A2

Speak to trading standards. My sister had a lot of trouble with a vauxhall sigma.2 1/2 years worth (garage 18 times). She eventually got trading standards involved and apparently you have 6 months to return a car if you are not happy with it.It was too late for her but hopefully not for you.Its worth a try :rolleyes:Give them a phone you have nothing to lose

Hello All,

Some members kindly got in touch via PM so I think I might do scan. But I still feel weary of the dealer, so will try to refuse the car though it may not go well. Got in touch with Consumer Direct and they weren't too encouraging.

And I will be looking for the replacement, too, in case I CAN refuse the current one. (I am def getting another A2, though it looks difficult to come by, especially arnd Berkshire.)

It's a shame, as it's a good spec car full of options, and in relatively good exterior condition. Or maybe it was too good to be true.

Thank you so much again for all the comments. They all helped me a great deal. I shall return when more news arise!

If the car checks out ok after the scan i would keep it if you like it. I had the same problem with a car i bought (the 1 just before this 1), the dealer where less than helpfull with any problems but the car was great so i kept the car and sorted the problem myself,

consumer direct vs trading standards

Go direct to trading standards rather than some off shoot I have always found them more than helpful and the mere mention of their name or a whisper of an investigation by them makes most businesses quiver. The good thing is that they will also take up your case for you:D go on try it I think you will be surprised they will advise exactly what you can do what your entitled to etc and its all done on the phone

Independent Dealer did VAG for me today

I am getting the result back in a bit, but they already told me that they've found tons of problems with it.

Also, the dealer I bought the car from refused to take the car back / refund, even though I've mentioned the trading standard, because I asked for the cambelt changed prior to the purchase.

Anyway, am picking the report back now. More later...

Here is the result

The report says that there is a fault with boost pressure valve, as well as a fault with steering column electronic control unit.

N/S/R suspension spring mount is broken off.

The fault suspected with the dash but only the actual Audi place can attend to it (urrm, I was told this place WAS the Audi place, but apparently they are NOT authorised.) so they can't say how / what is bad with it, but this is what causing prob to speedo.

And I also found out that fuel gauge NOT working either, after this report was back, so faulty dash sounds right to me, and that it needs replacing.

The dealer who sold me the car is still not saying they will fix all these problems, but only insisting to take a look at it, but all the diagnostic costs are on me, and of course still refusing to give me the refund. They are also refusing to negotiate the sales price due to the false advertisement.

I really don't understand how this is allowed as the legitimate business... C.D. is not really helping me either...

Sorry to hear that, you are going to need to put pressure on them AND Consumer Direct. Did you speak to Local Trading Standards? these people have a lot of power!.

Otherwise it's small claims court I suppose.

Cheers
