Problem Continues... Am I Going Mad?

Sorry to hear that, you are going to need to put pressure on them AND Consumer Direct. Did you speak to Local Trading Standards? these people have a lot of power!.

sarge is right - you have a lot of legislation on your side as a consumer - you need to tap into the people that know how to work with it. Trading standards, citizens advice, even your own solictor if you/your family have a regular that you use. I'd take Sarge' advice and talk to trading standards in the first instance. Damage to reputation is somthing small dealers will take very seriously when its becoming increasingly difficult to turn a profit. Gauge how things go and if the garage continue to be unhelpful, contact a reporter at the local paper. I really hope you get this all sorted. :(

Sarge + Murdo,

Thank you xx

I am touched! especially after my best friend suddenly decided not to help me out on this! You are giving me such encouraging words for me to toughen up!

Apparently, if you want to be in touch with Trading Standard you need to speak to Consumer Direct, and since I have done so I have effectively reported the dealer to the T.S. !

But since I agree with what you say I have written another official complaint, clearly stating T.S. being notified of their dodgy operation, rather than saying Consumer Direct. Hope that shakes them up a bit!

I will keep trying my best to get what I paid for. I shall also keep you guys posted.

Many, manythanks again :):)

Hello People,

This is taking sweet long time and I am sure you have all forgotten about this and maybe I should, too, but, no, still got A2, still broken. The dealer didn't get back to me for a long, long time and I just managed to drop the car off at theirs today.

When I did so they told me they don't have any courtesy car, though it was promised days in advance, so I started to head home, then they run after me and handed me the key to the courtesy car.

Then I asked the manager to give me some time in near future so we can discuss about cost / expenses I had to pay, and he asked why I am making such a big drama, don't I have better things to do than wasting their time, that I am a person who enjoys emailing every 5 minutes to prevent them from smooth running of their business (I have not emailed them for months, till today, to confirm the time of pick up, and that was 1 email), and I am the only one ever complained about anything to them, and I should be grateful because I get more expensive car as a courtesy car (Renault SUV????? U kiddin me????), and that they spent SO much money fixing the car so I should be thankful. And that he has life and better things to do than reading through all the letters I have sent him, and refuse to be driven mad by some individual who likes to make fuss.

I was speechless to most extent, the place and the manager's logic, the way he operates the business is a JOKE!! and why do I need to get insults like that, I have no idea.

It got too much and I felt I was choking up a little (I hate men telling me off, or yelling at me) so I told him to read all my letters as that's his job, and left.

As for the car, I give them this chance and if they can't fix it, then will REALLY push them for refund. I had enough. Will give Consumer Direct a call again soon...

Just updating.

This is not a happy tale - that Garage man sounds like a right idiot.

You say that "loads of faults came up" on the scan - are you able to say what they were? Many things are fixable - even broken springs are easily replaced, and actually they're a common thing to break on A2s unfortunately - even so a decent garage should have picked that up and fixed it before it was sold to you.

Are you able to say which garage you're having issues with?

Hi dan_b

Yes, I gave them the copy of the report from the Audi garage, along with all the complaints I have made into list. so I don't have to stand there verbally state all the faults out, but they can see them all at once on paper in plain English.

I know problems are fixable IF they are decent mechanics, but I just doubt that they are, and you can probably appreciate why I feel that way.

Am I allowed to say the name of the place? It's a second hand car dealer in Oxford Road in Reading. They do "while you wait MOT" and service there, too.

I can't see why you can't name & shame them mate, just as if they were to be praised if they served you well. That's the point to help and advise all members. Go for it.

Cheers

Sarge

Sorry to hear about all the problems with the garage. Are they members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation - RMIF? They also offer consumer help, as in your case were you've been clearly badly let down. Here's a link http://www.rmif.co.uk/consumers.aspx?id=0

But keep at them and don't be put off by the stupid comments, if they were a serious business they'd have sorted your motor out sooner.

Hi,

I don't think they are member of that. I searched the area and they didn't come up. Do RMIF offer help regarding non-member services?

OK, I am going to name the name now. I guess I can retrieve it IF they complain!
