Project EYV (2001 Jaipur Red TDI AMF)

A vast improvement sir...lovely wheels, fast becoming my favourites i think.
Hello Edd,

Apologies as I forgot to respond to your post Sir. Yes these really are my favourite wheels now. I’ve enjoyed the economy that the Pepperpot provide but have wanted these on my fleet since Duncan @DuncanA2 first showed us he’s A2 with them on a few years ago. They’re a difficult to come by set of wheels but if you keep looking then they do appear.

Very much doubt I’ll ever find another set 1.5 miles from me though. As Lady Luck has been on my side then I have just purchased a lucky dip for tomorrow evenings EuroMillions whilst out at the post office. Probably spent up on my lucky streak though haha!

Kind regards,

Tom

Morning all,

The next upgrade for this utterly gorgeous A2 to see it dripping with specification is to enhance its recently retrofitted RNS-E PU:

As this vehicle is used by the other driver here I have had complaints that the smartphone connectivity is lacking compared what was available in Project OEM. I have therefore got these spares out of the garage ready to for this afternoon/evening:

Audi A3 Bluetooth Telephone Module
IMG_9811.jpeg

This will be placed on the floor of the passenger footwell compartment in its foam holder.
Audi A3 Audi Music Interface (AMI)
IMG_9812.jpeg

This will be safely tucked into the lower aperture in the ECU/CCCU carrier

The above items are the factory solution for absolute perfect clarity handsfree calling and smart phone/smart device streaming. There simply isn’t a better alternative.

Bovee WMAA3000A
IMG_9814.jpeg

This will be connected to the above AMI for cable-free streaming which also still allows track names etc within DIS, ColorMFA and if course the splendid 3DcolorMFD.

The looms which were supplied by Bart at VAG Retrofits has been prepared and ready for installation:

IMG_9810.jpeg

The only thing to add to this further down the road will e an Arduino to enable the PDC/OPS display on the RNS-E when reverse is selected. A job for another day as I have so much more on this weekend.

After this evening I should have no more complaints about iPhone connectivity!

Kind regards,

Tom

Afternoon all,

That was a pleasurable couple of hours fitting the rest of the Audi A3 Infotainment suite, all is sorted and correctly coded for use.

Passengers Footwell Compartment sporting its new items, one of which isn’t on show (AMI) but it’s there:

Here’s the head unit running the custom firmware to allow some nice additional features:

IMG_9833.jpeg

Which is present in ColorMFA:

The AMI connected to my phone:

IMG_9834.jpeg

Which is running a Podcast as seen on the ComorMFA:

IMG_9837.jpeg

And finally the RNS-E PU in Telephone mode connected to the Three network on my phone:

With the telephone messages within ColorMFA:

IMG_9838.jpeg

As you all know, I’m an absolute fan of the A3 infotainment items within the A2 environment, they look rather good and they just work faultlessly.

The instrument cluster display is lacking in additional information to what I’ve been used to the last few months in the Project EUD A2 so have since purchased another 3DcolorMFD screen…

Yes I’ve also chosen a custom car image of how this car will look in the coming weeks!

Kind regards,

Tom

Great work Tom. I must get Smurf back on the road, so that I can come up and have a close look at these mods, oh, and swap the dash!

Hello Bob,

You’re very much welcome here anytime Sir. Although my fleet has altered recently, I’ll never forget how you rescued me out of a pickle back in March 2020 when my Ebony Black BBY commuter gave up so sold me your Azure Blue A2 which of course became the well-known Project OEM.

If I can help you with my skills and tool box then I’m more than happy to oblige.

Kind regards,

Tom

Stunning!
Evening,

Thank you very much. Glad you’re enjoying the updates, just as much as I’m enjoying conducting them. Hopefully you can see what I’ve been up to during the potential visit tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Tom

Morning all,

After my luck of finding a set of the rare A8 D2 wheels just down the road last week I said I’d try my luck on a lottery ticket. Well I didn’t win the jackpot so still back at work yesterday morning but did win a little bit to cover the costs of another purchase that this fantastic A2 needs:

Remember this image for the Project EUD A2:

Well there is nothing wrong with the current instrument cluster but how about a 3DcolorMFD screen being installed in the coming weeks, which will be displaying this to welcome me:

I’ll hopefully have the associated full Votex kit adhered to the body before the screen is soldered into place. Cannot wait for the exterior look to be complete.

Kind regards,

Tom

Morning all,

After contemplating on what to do within the interior of this new addition to the driveway something has really jumped out as unsightly and unfinished:

IMG_9944.jpeg

Please excuse the filthy footwell

Yes you can see the glorious marine grade stainless steel bespoke footrest from a previous venture that I pulled together for the community. Sure there is some 150+ A2s sporting these now.

The issue in the picture above is clear that its missing the TT-style slot infills, which is simple to resolve but wanted to go a stage further. Knowing my nephew has a new all-singing-all-dancing 3D printer I thought I’d ask him what he could do to resolve the missing items along with the creating a suitable infill for the A2 cutout too, which until now hasn’t been made available.

He easily made up the slot infills but took his time to perfect the A2 infill, which I think have turned out quite amazing:

IMG_9937.jpeg

So how do they look within a footrest, first up is to show you a footrest with the infills present:

With the @depronman 3D printed infills and the new A2 infill pushed in:

I’ll be giving the interior a good cleaning over this weekend which will culminate in the fitting of the improved looking bespoke footrest.

Tom

Hello again,

As some of you may know, Neil @nee777.a2 the previous owner of this vehicle had considered conducting an interior colour scheme swap from Jive to Soul, pretty much transforming it to sport an identical interior to that of the Project EUD A2. I have also of course considered this colour scheme swap as the EUD cabin is a very nice place to sit. The main thing hindering this me was locating a second set of unicorn Soul Heated alcantara Sport Seats…

Earlier this week I was contacted by Richard @rkeil who reported he might have something I was after which instantly got my interest. He also informed me that he was pointed in my direct from another club member who knew I was seeking such a set of seats. Mark @Taylor thank you so much for letting Richard know, what a great community we have!

Here’s the pictures that Richard initially sent which got me rather excited:

With the dirtiest seat being the drivers:

IMG_9957.jpeg

Although the seats don’t look their very best; I was confident that they would clean up rather nicely with a quick run down with 120 grip paper followed by getting the Rug Doctor Spot Cleaner into action.

So…, whilst out on my travels with work I took a rather extended detour to view and collect the seats. Prior to setting off I removed all the seats less for the drivers to fit these seats for the return leg if they were in a presentable condition - which they of course turned out to be.

I guess this was the set of seats that I required to proceed with the interior colour scheme alteration. Unfortunately these seats are unheated but I’m absolutely up for the challenge of sewing in factory heating elements, no rush for this as the warmer months will soon be upon us.

The return leg of the journey see me arrive home far too late to start the cleaning process so this had to wait until a decent hour and of course once I had finished work. This has of course now been completed and the result will be shown on the next thread.

Thanks again to Mark for letting Richard know of my search.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello again,

After excitedly obtaining the new-to-me alcantara seats in the above post, I was quite eager to understand what was beneath the dirt to ensure they a were worthy candidates to be installed into this glorious A2 after having factory heating elements stitched into the covers.

Therefore the cleaning process began which consisted of a quick spraying of AutoGlym fabric shampoo before washing the alcantara centres. The leather sides were also cleaned and creamed afterwards to. Additionally the plastics were also washed and treated to some AutoGlym rubber and vinyl product. I’ll not fire you with the progress pictures I have here and will just show a before then after.

Drivers seat before, zoom into the lower regions and you’ll see the fluffy bobbling:

You can probably guess how dirty the rear left seat was prior to cleaning so here it is afterwards:
IMG_9910.jpeg

It wouldn’t be a cleaning transformation without showing you thousands of miles of seat grime. It’s quite astonishing how good these spot cleaners are and how much of the cleaning solution of removed. These seats were dry to the touch within an hour or 2:

IMG_9923.jpeg

I’m quite happy to see the results of a couple of hours cleaning and excited to have found another set of these seats which initiates the interior colour scheme work. Of course I’ve got quite a task ahead of me at some point to add heating elements but I’m not worried about it, actually looking forward to it. I also need to retrofit the necessary looms to this vehicle now that it’ll eventually have a set of later sport seats with electric lumbar support.

Kind regards,

Tom

Glad you found a set lucky you! great transformation so far they will look awesome in your car what's the plan with the door cards?

Evening,

The plan is to change the door cards to Soul Black along with the rest of the interior, just like what’s been done to them Project EUD A2.

I know some purists might feel a bit I’d be doing distasteful things to such a fantastic looking example but it’s already far from original specification and I truly feel the Soul interior compliments the Jaipur Red exterior.

It’ll not be something that will occur over night, as such will stake me a while to obtain the remaining Soul parts but it’s most certainly going to happen now the seats have been found.

Kind regards,

Tom
