Hello all,

For those of you that my have missed the recent posts on the Today I… thread that one of the fleet has been sold (Project OEM) to make way for the latest spontaneous purchase then I feel a quick introduction to the car is in order.

I suppose first up I need to state that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way Project OEM performs for the other driver here. To be honest she doesn’t really care what colour her commuter is so I followed up on something I’ve said a few times recently ‘the only thing better than a Jaipur Red A2 on the driveway is 2 Jaipur Red A2s on the driveway’. Well this statement was a tall order to satisfy though but after chatting to Neil @nee777.a2 since liberating his stunning A2 of its Naipur Red Votex spoiler and it A2EYV private plate we decided that I might as well just purchase the rest of the vehicle whilst he chases another Audi marque.

The discussion of the purchase was loosely mentioned and very quickly escalated in my colleague thing it some 24 hours later.

Similar to the introduction of Project EUD, I think a few pictures of the vehicle prior to my ownership that I’ve managed to locate on our pages.

The following pictures are from a 2016 thread where the vehicle had only covered some 80k miles. It’s worth reading the thread as there are some bold statements a ot the car which I’m very glad to ready so know it comes with a good background. Here’s the the thread in question:

For anyone that cannot see the content of the linked thread then you really should consider upgrading your account to access the Clubs own market forum. Here’s the pictures that I’ve been able to download from the above thread, they’re in no particular order:

So that’s the introductory pictures over and done with. What do you think so far. As it currently does look much different than above then I cannot wait to get fresh pictures to you once Ive had the tools out and updated a few things.

Ahead of commencing the pampering process of this fine example I need to let you know what needs doing to it…

Absolutely nothing. Although not the purist of A2s as it already receive a few updates over the years, it cannot be faulted. But you know me though, there are few things that I feel are standard fit in a 2work A2.
  • Soul double DIN dashboard
  • A3 FBMFSW
  • Full A3 Infotainment suite
Before I go any further though I should remind you of the factory specification it proudly boasts:
  • Climate control
  • Front fog lights
  • False boot floor
  • Heated Sport Twist Leather interior
  • Jive Double DIN dashboard
  • Symphony radio
  • BOSE
  • Boot-mounted 6 CD multi changer
  • ISOfix front with passenger airbag deactivation key
  • Winter Pack
  • Headlamp washer bumper
  • OpenSky glass roof - still opens beautifully!
  • Auto-dimming rear view mirror
  • SideGuard curtain airbag system
  • Driver Information System (DIS)
  • 17” Sport Alloys
Think you’ll agree that the dealers smile was from ear to ear as the original customer ticked away at the optional extras list - and nearly run out of ink!

It’s late so I’ll leave the next post for later I to the weekend to let you know what my plans are. Most of you would be correct in thinking that I’d love to have 2 Jaipur Red A2s with full Votex A2s on the driveway so that’ll give you the flavour of where this is going to get to.

Have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Tom

If it had that spec from new Tom then it must have an interesting back story around the first owner - I haven’t clicked on the link to the 2016 thread so apologies if it makes reference to it there.

I’ve not seen heated sport twist leather seats before. Being an early car I assume they don’t have the lumbar support facility? Worth adding this if not, speaking from experience.

Morning David,

There is no reference to the original owner but the amount of paperwork that came with the car is just astonishing. Quite similar to the Project EUD A2 which also came with a ream of history going back to it first owner.

I’ve not even looked at the folder that is bursting with documents so far. Not had time to and if I was to start doing anything car related when at home over the Easter/spring break then the other driver here wouldn’t be too impressed.

Yes heated Twist leather sport seats aren’t a rare commodity as far as I’m aware. Project OEM has the very same fitted which was from factory, but being a later car they do have electric lumbar support. The seats in the new project, being an earlier generation don’t come equipped with the electric lumbar support, which is fine for now.

I can certainly add these myself in time if I feel the requirement is there. I’ll run the looms in the footwells so that part is complete as it’s easy enough. Just need to slowly locate a set of Twist front seats that can donate the lumbar support kit and lower plastic trims with the switch.

I only sold a full retrofit kit a few months ago for £30 but that was Soul so happy to wait. Something will present itself soon enough. More than happy to fit lumbar to these seats though but it’ll be lower down on the list of jobs that I’ll share with you all soon enough. The jobs higher up on the list is to remove a few items that have been retrofitted to add factory replacements and also a full Votex must also be painted and adhered on.

Before you know it though, it’ll have caught up with specification that the Project EUD A2 boasts.

Kind regards,

Tom

Needs an infill panel Tom

Morning Bob,

Great idea Sir. It probably does as I’ve always found that gap to be annoyingly good at collecting dirt and grime. One of your infill panels would certainly rectify this.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello all,

I’ll eventually get to more recent pictures then socialise a few ideas with you all regards my intentions, but first I feel I should mention what this absolutely beautiful A2 has received in the way or retrofits and enhancements over the last 20 years.
  • Cruise Control
  • Rear PDC (will have RNS-E PDC display soon enough)
  • Factory MFSW (will be removed as soon as possible as they’re not to my taste at all)
  • Twist rear cup holder
  • Factory mud flaps (will be removed at some point!)
  • Elasticated Belt System (cannot remember if it’s Soul or Twist but it’s no issue)
  • XCarlink iPod/3.5mm jack interface (already removed to make way for a factory module)
  • Pop out 12V boot socket
  • Stealth re-map
  • Twin luggage space illumination (already upgraded to LED panel bulbs)
  • The longer 5th gear modification (gear ratio of 0.659)
  • CK3100 Parrot hands free kit (already removed to make way for a factory module)
  • H&R front and rear Anti Roll Bar
On top of all the above, the vehicle has received preventative maintenance in many areas as you’d expect from a vehicle that have been carefully and meticulously maintained by Rob and Marcus at WOM Automotive.

So that’s pretty much the introduction over. You can see that this vehicle has wanted for pretty much nothing in the past and absolutely intend to keep it in top fettle during my ownership. Between this and Project EUD, I l have found my 2 keepers; I really caanot see me releasing this (or EUD) anytime soon.

I’ll hopefully get some time over the weekend to let you know the plans I have in mind but if not then it’ll be next week.

Again, have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Tom

Wow that really is a beauty!

I remember seeing the car when WOM brought it along to ADI in Castle Combe back in 2016. It was a peach then so glad it’s stayed in that condition.

Morning Dave & Steve,

Dave: Thank you for saying so Sir, I of course completely. I’m sure with the addition of the A8 D2 wheels and a good layer of wax will maintain its awesome unmissable presence (until enhanced with a full Votex kit which will take it a stage further).

Steve: Still got a massive grin on my face from knowing that I managed to obtain this one. I know Neil @nee777.a2 has considered the idea of selling before but I never thought he would let it go, obviously glad that he did and that I was honoured to be in a position to have first refusal (thank you Neil).

Kind regards,

Tom

Only just seen this very good specification wonder if any was left off the spec sheet 😊
Evening,

There certainly wasn’t much left to add onto the order form. I’ve got the original sales invoice here which totals £22’369 which’s is spectacular. I’ll continue to add to it though as I do over the course of my threads. That’s when I can get my hands on it as this is for the other driver here and not for me unfortunately. Right now I prefer to use the Project EUD A2 but I’m sure I’ll change my mind once I’ve got the Votex kit on along with a Soul dashboard transplant.

I really do prefer the alcantara seats in the other Jaipur too. Perhaps I should look for another set for this A2 and remove the Twist leather. So many decisions to be made over time I suppose.

Kind regards,

Tom

Did they do seats in twist Alcantara? I do really like that colour, however young children dictate soul black to be by far the most sensible choice.

Sadly not, although you can get them in Platinum.
Hello David,

As Ian states above, say not and completely understand preferring to have a full leather finish whilst the young ones are still quite little. Our 2 are both in double figures now so a bit more understanding but accidents still happen of course.

Hello Ian,

Yes it’s such a shame that Alcantara wasn’t available in Twist. As I prefer the look and feel of the Alcantara I will possibly be changing the seat over at some point. When the time comes I’ll have to decide on the best course of action, either proceed with Soul Alcantara heated Sport Seats and swap the whole interior to Soul or get the current Twist Leather heated Sport Seats re-trimmed to have a n Alcantara centre.

Such decisions can wait a year or 2 though as it’s obviously an unnecessary cost whilst I get to know the vehicle and have a Votex kit to paint.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello all,

With the sun out I thought it right to give the latest addition to the driveway a quick wash and light polish. It needs a few hours with tar and spot removed followed by a clay bar passing before I start to really pamper the coachwork but it’s still looking quite beautiful:

Extremely happy with this purchase as I’m sure you can imagine. The OSS smoothly opens too:

More pictures to follow when I have time. The lower satin black areas have come up nicely with some AutoGlym tyre gel which has been applied and wiped off but I’m still really wanting to add a full Votex kit. Already spoke to my painter who will be ready to take it off my hands in the next 2 weeks.

I’m still not overly keen on the tarnished/darker A8 wheels so may have to get them re-powder coated in a more suitable factory looking colour.

Kind regards,

Tom

clean motor I agree with you regarding the wheels. seeing that OSS 😋 need to remove my headliner and see whats going on

Me again,

In other news, some of you may noticed that I purchased this stunner with the MOT about to expire. Neil actually had it booked in for tomorrow local to him. It with me being impatient I collected the vehicle last week and had it booked in for MOT local to me. This occurred this morning on its original number plate:

IMG_9539.jpeg

It of course passed inspection with flying colours which both Neil and I was expecting, as this car has had some serious preventative maintenance carried out in recent years at WOM Automotive. Since the MOT this morning it’s has also had its cherished A2 specific plate reassigned (which you’ll see in the pictures in the above post):

IMG_9523.jpeg

Since having this on the driveway I have added a couple of things:

You’ll see from this image that the TT pedal covers have been fitted, a RNS-E PU now resides where the Symphony used to be housed, an A6 C5 armrest has been added and a factory QI wireless charger has been dropped into the handbrake tray along with Soul Black touch items and factory rubber mats.
IMG_9533.jpeg

ColorMFA has also been added which will no doubt be replaced by a 3DcolorMFD screen soon enough
IMG_9532.jpeg

Also updated the drivers door switches:
IMG_9537.jpeg

The factory auto dimming rear view mirror has also been updated to the rather rare Twist digital compass variant along with a Twist VW Passat sunglasses holder
IMG_9534.jpeg

Only small updates for now along with the spare A8 D2 wheels. There will be more to follow when time permits though.

Kind regards,

Tom
