Project EYV (2001 Jaipur Red TDI AMF)

clean motor I agree with you regarding the wheels. seeing that OSS 😋 need to remove my headliner and see whats going on
Afternoon,

Thank you, yes it’s a rather clean example which will be receiving plenty of pampering over the coming months. It’s actually perfect just the way it currently is but I’m quite looking forward to seeing how I can subtly improve such a sorted vehicle.

Kind regards,

Tom

This seems to be a very nice car, and in my favourite A2 colour.
Did you at any point consider to keep this car non-Votex (as per the latest pictures) just as a contrast to the other Jaipur car you have which to my memory has the full Votex kit?
Just thinking if that would tickle the eye more than seeing two identical ones on the driveway?
Irrespective, I feel like a dog looking at a tasty biscuit :)

Afternoon Joakim,

I have considered keeping this in example in a more factory fresh guise but it’s already had a few upgrades over the years so isn’t true to its original appearance at initial purchase so thought there would be no issue with adjusting it’s aesthetics.

The Votex kit I have here was always destined to be Azure Blue for Project OEM but after seeing such a coloured A2 with full Votex I don’t really feel the colour pulled it off nicely. Now Jaipur Red is completely different, in my eye it’s such a standout bold colour that it truly demands/suits a colour coded Votex kit. I honestly don’t mind having 2 matching A2s on the driveway, actually looking forward to it.

When I pop out to jump into the Project EUD A2 I get a massive grin on my face from just looking at it, regardless of how sorted this A2 is, I simply don’t get the same excitement and feeling from it. I know this will change once the wheels are a more factory colour along with the full Votex kit being adhered to it.

I’m sure there are many members reading this who cringe at the thought of adding a Votex kit to an A2 and deem it as ruining the original concept that Audi visualised back in the 1990s but in Jaipur Red, I think it looks absolutely exceptional and a must. I’m quite sure that the planned appearance will only do this car justice and further enhance its desirability. Only yesterday at Leicester Audi, whilst getting new dealer plates printed for this particular car, see 5 of the staff coming out to look Project EUD wearing its Votex kit, they were quite impressed with the way this 20+ year old marque still presents itself today; some of them had actually never seen an A2 up close before.

Kind regards,

Tom

Evening,

Yes it’s definetly nice in there bu please not that the earlier pictures in this thread are some 8 years ago when it was listed for sale by WOM automotive. I’ll get updated pictures on here soonest, that said it’s still a rather nice place to sit. Pretty much on par with Project EUDs interior although a different colour scheme of course.

Kind regards,

Tom

Looking strong to be on a par or even better than the other jaipur Tom!

Must agree the wheels don't work twin tone, doesn't show the best of them. Look forward to more updates, although you've done loads already...!!

Evening Edd,

It’s certainly a wonderful place to sit, but I’m quite liking the darker interior in its sibling but I’ll be keeping it Twist for the foreseeable future.

Yes it’s getting there from the short periods I’ve had available to tinker. Next up will be adding the rest of the A3 infotainment systems and get a FBMFSW added, scoot get on with the factory steering wheel after being spoilt Forbes long with the flatter variant in the fleet over the years.

Kind regards,

Tom

Afternoon all.

After removing the bonnet for yesterdays MOT I was reminded that it could do with a quick wipe over but mainly the colour of the coolant reservoir:

Out come the socket set for remove the reservoir to swap it out for something more fresh looking that I recently purchased from our very own market forum:

IMG_9547.jpeg

More of the clean pink G13 was from the original dirty reservoir so I have no concerns that there is anything wrong, certainly after the extensive head work conducted at WOM Automotive a couple of years ago.

A much happier looking engine bay I think. Not bad for literally 30 minutes with a cloth and a 10mm socket.

The next thing I need to address in this area is swapping the scuttle to that of the later oval type heated washer jets. A job for another day!

Kind regards,

Tom

Afternoon,

Thanks for the kind words. It’s amazing what you can achieve in such a short time. With a rag soaked in warm soapy water. Most of the grime comes away with very little effort.

Kind regards.

Tom

Hello again,

Whilst the car was up on the ramp yesterday I could see how nice and beefy the H&R Rear ARB looks. It was of course covered in many miles of road grime so jus gave it a wipe over with the dirty cloth I just used in the engine bay:

Just need to add a set of hi-vis jacking points from Chris @Proximo which are already in transit to me. I’ll have these fitted one lunchtime next week once they’ve arrived.

The Koni FSD rear shocks are still looking okay but the fronts have already been swapped for Bilstein B4s. The rears will also be swapped over to B4s some point next week.

Really starting to fall for this one. It’s such a cracking vehicle. I’m torn between which is my favourite. Can you have 2 favourites?

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello all,

To accompany the above post, my third set of these have just arrived:

These will be fitted to the underside of this vehicle as soon as it stop raining. I’ve also got these Bilstein B4s to fit whilst I’m there:

Couple of storage marks but these are brand new supplied by Neil who never got round to having WOM Automotive fit them for him.

Kind regards,

Tom

Evening all,

Just finished work so excitedly popped outside to add further upgrades to an area that I was recently in. Remember these this pictures from a couple of days ago:

IMG_9546.jpeg

I’m sure you do and I’m also sure you remember how much better it looked with the fresh coolant reservoir:

IMG_9547.jpeg

But look how high the wiper arm is when rested. This of course needed sorting so just rectified this niggle:

Anyone notice the obvious additional upgrade added at the same time?

Kind regards,

Tom

Windscreen washer jets?
Evening Brian,

Nice to hear from you Sir. Yep got it in one…

Swapped the wiper scuttle to that of the later revision and also added the later style washer jets. Yes they’re of course heated!

Kind regards,

Tom

Morning all,

Remember this image:

Before I head out for the day I thought I’d finally add these which arrive last week:

So quickly for the Jack out:

That work was completed in all of 5 minutes:

Very happy with these items from @Proximo (thank you Chris). This is the third set I’ve fitted and would definitely fit them to any other future project in my custody.

Kind regards,

Tom

Is it only me that gets a kick out of looking at that car jack?

Morning John,

I know it’s a bit sad but also get a little kick out of it when it’s in use. Why I didn’t buy one of these years ago I just don’t know. Putting up with my cheap Halfords jack that I had to use in conjunction of the vehicles emergency jack to raise the vehicle by an inch was a pain.

Kind regards,

Tom

Afternoon all,

Some will have seen yesterday that I picked up a third set of these wheels that are ultra rare in impeccable:

IMG_9720.jpeg

Therefore these were removed:

The Goodyear tyres have done less than 1000 miles so we’re out on the newly purchased wheels shown above. You’ve all seen how these gorgeous wheels look with the Votex kit on the Project EUD A2 but here’s how they look without the kit:

IMG_9726.jpeg

IMG_9725.jpeg

There a some very light keeping on the rims (due to the low profile stretched tyre that were on them before) but these are nicely covered with the rim protection provided by the tyre/size choice. The centre caps could well be classed as brand new from their outstanding condition. Such a great find these were and under 5 minutes from me - Winner!

The next things to address on the exterior is add a pair of freshly painted door mirror covers and of course the full Votex. The Votex kit was due to be dropped off with the painter this week but I’m not heading the opposite way with work so it’ll have to be next week or the week after. Cannot wait though!

For now, this stunner looks much better and happier.

Kind regards,

Tom
