Rear Axle refurb - what paint finish?

Ah ok.

No ACF 50 is a fine mist oil used in aviation sector as a spray on corrosion prevention.
 
For the last 10 years or so I've been painting my axle every year or so with Kurust. Easy to apply with a brush or spray bottle. Turns black. It is quite runny so can be liberally slapped on.

I put the car on my sloping ramps and do the main beam and then jack up and remove the wheels in turn to do the rest of the axle. Lay on large sheets of cardboard and have old newspapers to catch the dribbles. I do the front as well.

You probably picked the best week to sell the MG. The weather is like magnet for soft tops and can help seal the deal.

Having had the axle shot blasted and painted professionally with 2 part Joton paint (primer and top coat), I'm thinking of spraying clear coat as extra protection. Anyone see any problem with that?
