Right hand side lower arm console

I'm changing the arm which I've had sitting for quite a while and when I contacted tps they informed me audi stopped production of the consoles in late 2020 , I'm changing the console as the hole the bolt is in isn't a " blind hole" so water and salt get in and a common problem is when you withdraw the bolt the threads turn to powder and I can't take the chance if that happening and the cars stuck in a workshop for a week or so

Could you post few pictures which part is the problem, I would like to check it on my A2 as well, cheers.

You would only need to check it if your lower arm needs replacing as it's attached to it and the bolt connecting them can seize or when it's being taken out the threads turn to powder rendering it useless unless it get a new thread in it and using a bigger bolt

By way of a miracle I found out the mechanic I use but haven't spoken to since August had ordered a arm and a console and had them sitting since then in his workshop, so on Monday I had the arm and console fitted and rear brake pipes changed , upon getting the car back I still have a rattling noise going over pitted / rough ground , mechanic says he checked all the usual bits and found everything fine , and another place doing my wheel alignment checked and said fine , but I'm beginning to think it's the anti rolll bar or the bush that's causing the rattle

Have you checked the rear bonnet locations? These frequently aren’t cushioned properly if the seats are worn or broken, they can cause a considerable rattle over rough road!

Also ensure your wiper arm is not tapping the windscreen. At best is will scratch an arc on the glass, at worst it WILL CRACK THE WINDSCREEN.

It's the right side if your car is RHD (Right Hand Drive).

You might be able to use VW Polo MK4 consoles, as I expect the main difference between the Audi A2 consoles and the VW Polo MK4 consoles are the rubber bushes. Often rubber suspension bushes are harder for the Audi A2 and softer for the Polo MK4. This is to give the Polo a softer ride and the Audi A2 more sporty handling.

VW Polo MK4 left console 6Q0199293D

VW Polo MK4 right console 6Q0199294D

However, because of the differences in the hardness of the rubber bushes, if you use a VW Polo MK4 console it's probably best to change both sides.

The assembly carrier that the console bolts to has the same OEM part number on the Audi A2 with engine codes AMF, BHC, ATL, and the VW Polo MK4 with engine codes AMF, ASY, ATD, AXR, BAY

6Q0199287H assembly carrier for Audi A2 with engine code AMF

6Q0199287H assembly carrier for Audi A2 with engine codes ATL BHC

6Q0199287H assembly carrier for VW Polo MK4 with engine codes AMF ASY ATD AXR BAY

Thanks, but do the consoles from the polo or fabia mentioned here fit?

Weetank2 said on the below thread:

"The consoles are a common casting shared with Polo etc
It's the pressed in bush that differs"

However, the outside diameter of the Audi A2 rubber bush appears to be 62mm and the outside diameter of the VW Polo MK4 rubber bush appears to be 63mm. So the casting isn't the same, or at least the hole that has been machined into the casting for the rubber bush. If you've got an Audi A2 console you will only be able to fit a 62mm outside diameter rubber bush, and if you've got a VW Polo MK4 (or equivalent) console you will only be able to fit a 63mm outside diameter rubber bush. 62mm outside diameter rubber bushes always appear to be solid rubber.

62mm solid rubber bushes are readily available on the aftermarket, including Lemforder which appear to be Original Equipment.

Old thread titled "Front Suspension Part Name Help!"

If you want a new OEM console, maybe try a VAG dealer to see if you can still get the console new. Someone mentioned 155 Euros for a new console on the German A2 forum, but that might be out of date information.

Ok so now ive ordered a 6Q0199294D and was thinking of getting these https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-...at-cupra-tdi-front-wishbone-rear-bushes-pair/ . Thinking of asking Awesome to swop the bush in the console for me,anybody done this?

You might find that the VW Polo MK4 console and the Audi A2 console are different because the rubber bushes that they use appear to have different outside diameters. 62mm outside diameter for the Audi A2 and Cupra rubber bushes, and 63mm outside diameter for the VW Polo MK4 rubber bushes.

There are two versions of these rubber bushes for the Audi A2. 8Z0407183 is the petrol version, and 8Z0407183A is for all versions of the 1.4TDI, ie. engine codes: AMF, ATL, BHC.

skoda-parts.com describe the Lemforder 8Z0407183A rubber bush as OE (Original Equipment) on the Audi A2 diesel

Manufacturer facts: LEMFÖRDER

Lemförder is the largest supplier of steering and suspension parts for car manufacturers (BMW, MB, AUDI, VW) as well as for aftermarket. The company is known for developing new solutions that are subsequently taken over and copied by others. He is also the owner of many patents and a leader in the development of new technical solutions.

Lemförder products come from the same production line. They are physically identical in both aftermarket and OE. Parts for OE and aftermarket are therefore identical, only the difference is that at the end of the production line is mandatory to grind the symbols of individual car manufacturers.

That listing claims that the Tedgum 00726013 rubber bush has an outside diameter of 63mm, and can be used to replace the 8Z0407183A rubber bush on the Audi A2 and the 1K0407183E rubber bush on the VW Polo MK4. Something is wrong with that listing, because these cars use rubber bushes with different outside diameters.

If you've got a VW Polo MK4 console that needs a 63mm outside diameter rubber bush, maybe try this Meyle Heavy Duty rubber bush. It's not solid rubber like the Audi A2 version, but does look harder than the VW Polo MK4 rubber bush as shown in the photos below.

Meyle 1006100027 is the heavy duty version for the VW Polo MK4 console and is sold to replace the rubber bush with OEM part number 1K0407183E
