Chat Rip off fuel prices

I typically get 45mpg in mixed driving without economy in mind, if I just drive around town I get 40ish. I’ve seen 60mpg on an eco run and if do eco town and motorway i an easily get above 50mpg average.
These days I drive like Nigel…. So get 43/46…. on a 82 mile round trip😟

If you can eek out an extra 10% that’s like saving 20p per litre, at these horrific prices I’ve no issues exercising every technique to save fuel.

Won’t be long before it’s a Mad Max style apocalyptic world, you already hear of catalytic converter theft…. Might have to armour plate the fuel tank…

The cheapest price around here in east devon according to confused.com’s price checker is Seaton Tesco at £1.879 / litre. It’s pay at pump only and a £99 limit per transaction- so for the first time ever when filling the Touran today it hit this limit before the tank was totally full!
I literally never fill the tank full, around 60-70% as it just adds extra weight, but I mostly do urban drive, so a fuel station is never far away.

... and a frame made from the finest titanium ..... very nice 😍
It was the first cycle picture I came across, yes it is titanium, that picture was taken just after I finished building it, It now looks quite different with different group set, titanium stem and alloy bars. I think, of the top of my head, it has been ridden 15k miles.

I was shocked the first time this happened a few weeks ago as I just assume the tank was full and set off…only to realise that I hadn’t filled the tank…if only I’d bought a 5 Seater A2!

Hi Phil,
Rip off fuel prices and a bus strike prompted me into cycling way back in 1981 ... I was an apprentice printer with a 100% attendance record but had a two bus journey into work ... with help from my dad (an ex club cyclist) we fixed up my Coventry Eagle, I set off at 6:30 and cycled the fifteen miles into the factory, from that moment I never got the bus again and joined a cycling club.
My favourite bike is still a custom built 1987 Reynolds 653 Ellis Briggs, originally with Compag Chorus, GP4 sprint rims, Look pedals, Cinelli stem and bars ... it's been through several groupsets and currently on Ultegra R8000 .... the bike featured on one of the GCN shows a while back.
