Service cost!!

Did you buy the car from the dealership that you went to regarding the service or was it a private sale. In any case there should be a service record

Bought it from the dealership. I specificly asked about the service during the test drive, and was told if its due within 4000 miles they would do it, as you know, it says 40,000 as standard in the service book but the last service was 32,400 and the dash is now saying its due at 43,000 miles. There was 38,400 when I bought it so that only takes me to 42,400. Think I'll have to pay just so I keep the warrenty till Feb of next year do you think.......you never know, its been at the dealership more times than enough

going by what you are saying the service should have been done by the dealer before you took ownership you got it at 38400 on the clock service is due at 43,000 makes a difference of 4600 miles which is less than 4000 miles so dealership should pay for the sake of 600 miles think they are being petty

I booked the wifes lupo in for a cambelt change along with a small service and MOT with the local VW delaer. I was quoted around £450 for all the work which I found a bit steep. Called another garage who services VW cars and was quoted ££290 for the same work using VW parts. A chap that I work with advised me to call VW garage and request a quote using the "fast fit" service. Well i did this and the same work was going to cost £330. What a difference in price just by using the "fast fit" service. All the work is still carried out by the same mechanics its just that they dont wash the car, collect and deliver the car or lend you a car.
The moral of this post is that if your car is over 4 years old then use the "fast fit" service as it is alot cheaper.
