Service flap not opening

That all depends on how destructive you wish to be...

First eliminate the handle is not disconnected from the linkage under the dash. Second push the flap FIRMLY shut, then while holding it like that have someone else pull the release handle and just after they have pulled the handle and held it in the open position try to pull the flap down. Third have someone hold the release in the open position while you insert a large flat bladed screwdriver into the gap between the flap and the chrome on the right vertical edge and lever the flap to the left to unlock from the tongue. Fourth drill a 8mm hole inside the second from the left Audi ring through the black plastic ring in the top corner where the first ring overlaps the second and use a cross point screwdriver to wedge the lock back out of the way.

Beware some or even all of these methods could end up breaking the locking tongue off the service flap so entirely at your risk.

I drilled a small strategic hole inside the Audi Rings on one of my A2s as same problem as you. I think the garage inadvertently broke mine. Still, a little screwdriver through the hole now opens the flap via pushing the wedge bolt out of way.

Many thanks for the help!

I try to get as little damage as possible to my precious A2. Tomorrow I will get someone to try opening the flap in the same time.
In case "nothing else works" Nro 4. Any change to get the picture from the point where the drilling was done (Audi ring)?

The first image I have improvised as you cannot see the 1/8 hole, you see the bit of white cardboard going through the hole.
The second image as explained, you cannot really see the hole.
The third is a tool I use bought from Halfords. Comes as a set of four useful tools with different shaped ends.
In case it is not clear, the hole is drilled in the second ring.

Did the exact same with my wife’s A2 as it can be a darn nuisance if you cannot open the flap and of course….. it only happens when you really need to top up oil or other😂

Super! Thanks a lot.

I hope I don't have to start drilling  but let's see.

The cars are in some cases over twenty years old….. it would be better for you to drill a small hole when you can as you have to get it right first time otherwise you end up with holes all over the place to open the flap. It is very difficult to see the hole once done due to the colour of the flap. The hole in my other A2 is in a slightly different location👍

Report:

The opening system (wire+latch) worked normally, but the door got stuck because the latch didn't move all the way. So service flap got stuck behind the latch anyway. I moved the (latch) part more to the right... WUHUU success! Now it works at least for a while 🤠

At first I couldn't get the hatch open at all, but no major damage hole or scratch. A little strength, a hanger, a screwdriver and luck in the right place 🤞

Now you have managed to get it to open I suggest that you clean the lock plunger of all dirt and grease as this is the normal cause of the plunger not retracting enough.
