Special Edition Register

I know that when I bought mine in 2002, Richard, the sales guy I was dealing with at Dane Audi, checked for UK yellow A2s and at that point (Autumn 2002), there was one other, owned by Audi themselves. AFAIK, the Colour Storms appear on the V5 as yellow.

Saw an ALL blue in Windlesham for sale the other week.
blue interior multispoke wheel full service history with approx 135k miles.
The chap wanted £2200. If any one wants the number I can go to see the car ( if its still there )

I have DE05EZH in Crystal blue. First registered in March 05
It is in its original condition with no added extras. The model in the log book is A2 TDI Special Edition.
Recently acquired only a week ago.

I've seen that very car at a previous social, and I'm sure Dave won't mind me confirming it's a yellow Colour Storm like mine, one of about 90 known yellow ones registered. Colour Storm was only a paint option rather than a trim option so it doesn't get mentioned as such on the logbook. There were however two known all-over-yellow cars registered before Colour Storm was launched. @Imola Yellow has one, which holds the UK mileage record for an A2 by a very long way, @mrbroons had the other as a project, not sure where that one is now.

At least 3 as an all yellow one was broken for parts on eBay about 18 months ago. If memory serves Imola yellow got a replacement door from it.

sorry for necroing an old thread, but I've just bought a car that happens to be listed as "Special Edition". What exactly is special about these..? Lol

For a 2005 car it seems to be lacking some basic things like trip computer and adjustable steering wheel.

Just curious what is different about Special Editions as at least mine seems like basic no-options-ticked spec.

Are you sure it's not adjustable? I'm happy to be corrected, but I thought all A2's had steering adjustable not only for rake but also reach. The trip computer was an option for most models, it was only standard on the Sport. The basic A2 was indeed pretty spartan, the Special Edition was essentially a base car but with climate control and a CD player, brought in as a run-out model to shift remaining components.

Up till about mid 2004 the SE was a model and appeared on log books as SE. This stood for Special Equipment and was the mid between the base car and sport. In late 2004 as several models disappeared Audi brought out the Special Edition, and was usually on the log book as Special Edition, for what was then to be the run out cars and was the only trim level available. The meagre equipment could still be added to by the now reduced options list.

by the look of the parts diagram, as you've said, the steering column is a complete assembly that features the adjuster with the handle under the centre of the unit as an integral part -

@treeroy - have you tried to locate the handle underneath the centre of the column? - it pulls down and releases the mechanism.

My TDi75 is an SE, I seem to recollect it was manufactured in Dec 2004, but first registered in March 2005.

I've recently purchased an Arctic white Tdi Special edition 2005 LM05 VWT which I believe to be one of only four ever registered in the UK.

It's a 5 seater that also came supplied with OSS, full DIS, MSFW, Rear parking sensors. I've just fitted 17" Polo GTI alloys plus I've managed to source a Black leather sports interior and Votex kit so these will be getting fitted in the very near future, as always with a new project there's a few small niggles that need looked at so watch this space

This A2 seems to blessed with too many extras to be a bare bones Special Edition. What does the log book say?

I'm not sure but the fact it hasn't got fogs makes me think it's not a SE plus it's got a 4 spoke steering wheel, non sport seats and a late 05 car would suggest to me it's a Special edition but I'll check the V5 and report back when I return home in a few days

Pretty sure that is just a Special Edition....BUT to burn off stock many dealers were encouraged to order some with as many options selected as possible. These cars were used as courtesy cars in many cases. I had one for a few weeks when I was waiting delivery of a new A4 and it was about 1 year old at the time. Remember the dealer telling me it was the credit managers wife's car and she was not happy with the A6 Avant she was given to drive instead. Dealer had two other Special Edition A2s but never saw them.

I did hear a story about a number of A2s ( about 25 in total ) that were locked away in Milton Keynes and were to be used to replace write offs but do not know if any were nor what happened to them.

We have NY05DBX 1.4 se in grey
Bought for my daughters first car when she turns 17 next year its been in storage for over a year already .
Low mileage car so hopefully should last her a while and keep her away from fiat 500's which would be her choice
Standard bar some 17" rims

Sorry for the very late reply, but you're right, I quickly found the lever, it just wasn't where I was expecting it.
