Did all of the airbags fire as they should?

Our airbags are on the edge of their “life” and really should be replaced (according to manufacturers specification)

You might find that the side airbags only deploy in a side-on impact, it doesn’t mean they have failed if they didn’t fire.

The system fires the appropriate ones to match the impact.

Hi Steve. I actually checked when I went to see the car. Was my concern too. Certainly know that front two deployed, as my son has the weave pattern etched on his check!
Happy to report that in fact ALL airbags deployed, including the two side airbags. That's on a jan'2002 registered car.

Dang. Forgot my A2oc badge on the boot.

Sorry to read about your misfortune . Glad you are all okay. Don't worry about the badge I'm sure we can sort you with a new one. I'll pitch in a donation to cover the cost. Hope the kids are improving every day and you're all over the shock.

great news that everyone is on the mend

Re the airbags and replacement due to age - I was also aware of this, but I understand that Audi and some other manufactures have fairly recently removed the age restriction on the airbags and seat belt pre tensioners, I guess as a result of actual age related testing as against artificial ageing which is all that is available when a car is launched

Cheers

budword and the written off A2.

Been away from home and the internet for a while but back home tomorrow and just got some airport wifi.

What a dreadfull accident, I am so pleased that you and you familly are all ok albeit a bit shaken up.
It is good to see that the monocoque pax cabin of the A2 stood up so well to such an impact.
Hope you are and the familly are soon 100% and that you can find another A2!

Hi Dave,
After some confusion by myself getting you mixed up with another member, just like to say I,m very sorry to hear of your accident, hopefully yourself and family are all fighting fit again soon and you find the elusive replacement A2, testament to your confidence in the great little tanks,
All the best Jeff

Think I can stretch to another badge! But thanks. Wife also joking (sick) that I need to swap my A2oc Tshirt to a NON A2oc Tshirt for now.

The side airbag in the passenger seat in my car fired successfully when the bin wagon rammed me into the kerb...drivers side didn't, but the initial impact was slightly from behind so may not have caused a trigger event.
