The quest for the highest mileage A2 and the 200K Club

Und Heute...

Felt a bit weird watching it tick over on the M4 just past Membury.

Well done, or should I say well done Jules. Added to the prestigious club :)

I haven't been on here for ages but good to see lots of high mileage A2s :)

My A2 Tdi 90 (54 plate) has just turned 275,000 on original engine and turbo, apart from routine engine servicing it's had a new camshaft sensor, new wheel bearings all round and new bump stops at rear. I replaced the shocks at around 150k to have a slightly softer ride.

I'm getting a bit nervous about the balancer/oil pump drive chain and tensioner but no funny noises so far.

Long life oil and filter changed every 10k, maybe overkill but it's not that expensive.

Average 65mpg with 70plus on a run.

Best car I ever had!

Welcome to the exclusive club, thread updated.

I'm up to 272,000 now
I'm going to loose my top spot, as my Blue A2 TDI with 288300 on the clock is currently sorn'ed, I would have loved to hit the 300K mark but got offered another TDI A2 with OSS and only 150K so could not turn it down

The TDI really is an amazing engine, I worked out that my 288K miles A2 had used more in diesel that it cost to buy the car new, now that is quite something considering that it still does 65 to 70 mpg
Its been to the moon, turned around is is part way back :)
Cheers,

congrats on the big 200K :)
fuel cap switch is likely to be the drivers door lock solder joints or micro switch - does the drivers door turn the interior light on and off, if so the nignor my comments about solder joint/micro switch, but if the light does not turn on when the door is opened then the fuel flap does not see the drivers door as being open and hence will not respond to the unlock fuel flap button being pressed (someone at Audi had far to much time on there hands and designed the fuel unlock to only work if the drivers door as open, even though it is impossible to press the button if the drivers door is shut - you really got to give it to the Audi design engineers for that one)

Cheers,

it is the drivers door micro switch get used to opening the boot now

I'm going to hit that 200,000 mls any day, now! AND this is amazing ..... my fuel-flap too is inoperative! I'm probably due for a cam-belt change now. There's always something, isn't there?

lol - I misread the above, and thought you were saying your fuel flap was inoperative due to a cam-belt change ... :)

Going to have to get myself another A2 just so I can play this game before I’m too old to drive / long since dead. At the rate I’m going I’ll be 95 before I get a pop at 200k. ?

I'm super psyched to join this exclusive club too ;) With over 175k now on the brilliantly well kept example Tdi 75 I recently aquired. Returned over 72mpg on a run from Glasgow to Gretna, dropping only to 70.5mpg at Sc**thorpe and I wasn't hanging around. I'm adding the miles on and an enjoyable process it is too especially with such frugal sipping of fuel and the eclectic appeal of the A2.

Edit: wondered why Sc**thorpe was 'bleeped' out...! :D

I think that this thread was really intended for members achieving that milestone of 200,000 miles? Otherwise you're going to get more and more comments from other members who might be way-off that mileage, but are contemplating getting there, eventually? Like ("only another 80,000 miles to go!") L.O.L.!

David

I'm not entirely sure I qualify for this exclusive club. My A2 has, at the time of writing, done 217,000 miles ...but I changed its engine at 191,000 when I installed the TDI120. So, there are many parts of my car that have done 217k miles, like (most of) the gearbox and the outer CV joints, but equally there's much of the powertrain that I've renewed.
