The knop to open the flap to the fueltank is only active when te door is open. When te door is closed the lights are off and the button doesn't function.

When you've parked your car and switched the lights off, put the indicator on ie as if you were going to go left or right, and it leaves the side lights on at the side the indicator is set to.

DIS generates and alert if you drive longer then 2 hours. When the car is stopped with the ignition off for 15 minutes then DIS starts resets its counter. If you stop shorter DIS doesn't count that as a break.
This is to reduce drivers fatigue.

These are some good facts! I might take all of them and whack a list up on the website.

yes pls stuart - would also b good if we can find out where to get the sulphur free petrol

i can't access those diagnostics - anyone else with a 1.6 FSI able to see them???

No, I can;t either.

I think it may only relate to the A4/TT/A6 climate control where you have passenger and driver temp control

It is not recommended to let the TDI engine idle for extended periods of time. Aside from wasting fuel, causing unnecessary emissions, and not accomplishing anything (the engine won't warm up at idle anyway), the turbocharger depends on having a certain minimum level of boost pressure to maintain the condition of the seals. Extended periods of idling may cause a certain amount of oil consumption, and the oil consumption may clog the catalytic converter. Some owners who have let their engine idle for a long time report the engine running poorly for some time afterward. And no, you don't need to worry about what's going to happen if you get stuck in a traffic jam now and again, it's not THAT serious. Just don't start the engine 20 minutes before you want to leave in the morning every day, in the false hope of having a warm interior... (found on http://www.tdiclub.com)

The Audi Space-frame is made from 225 pieces.

The chassis number is on a chrome-nickel plate in the space under the front left floor along with the car's "brain."

Only A2's without remote central locking have a doorlock with key on the front passenger door.

A 1.4 petrol engine weighs 90kg, a 1.4 TDi engine weighs 130kg.

When you're driving and your doors are unlocked the boot remains open, never understood this, anyone can walk up to your car and open the boot and steal your shopping! The only factor that was better on the Aclass was the central locking would activate once you reach 20mph, otherwise the A2 wins on everything!

I don't understand that.
Are you saying that when you drive along and press the locking button, it locks all your doors but not your boot??
Have you actually tested that?

Your dealer can change this. The A2 can be configured to have one of these behaviours:
- no locks engange automatically
- the boot door locks after you have reached a certain speed
- all doors lock when reaching a certain speed

Really Martin, does this cost a lot? I'd love to have that feature again, I did appreciate that when travelling in my Aclass, it made you feel a bit more secure

No I meant that without pressing the button all doors and boot remain open, I used to have an aclass for my sins! and all doors and boot locked automatically when reaching 20mph so I didn't have to remind myself, although I think the boot should remain locked at all times especially when you have a boot unlocking button on the key phob?

Or does anyone know how you can change this setting so the boot remains locked always unless unlocked with the boot button?

It's a simple software configuration variable, so I expect the dealer needs perhaps 5 minutes to change this, as long as they know how to do it. But my experience with several dealers is that they have quite some problems to reconfigure the car's software.

yes it does cost, my dealer said it costs at least, my car is set to basics he said, when i press lock button if i turn on the engine to door unlock, i mean WTH is with that, so you get in and say if you had kids they are in you lock the door think everybody is all safe then you turn on car and doors auto unlock and you still think they are locked, that is by far the stupidest setting i have ever known.

This must be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway. I assume that this doesn't toggle back again dependent upon speed. i.e. You accelerate past 20mph so the locks engage and never unlock until you unlock them manually.

It would be weird to be driving around town with the doors repeatedly locking and unlocking as you go above/below 20mph.

My local dealer is charging £40 to reprogram the central locking... over 5mph and the locks engage. Take the ignition key out, and the locks unlock. It would be like a London cab if they kept locking and unlocking depending upon speed.

Your dealer shouldn't charge you when changing the cars door-lock configuration. It's done in 1 minute: plug in to their diagnistics computer, press a few buttons, plug out, finished!
And the system works fine. At 15km/h all doors and boot lock automatically. When I stop and take the key out, the drivers door is unlocked automatically. If I leave my key in, the door stays locked until I pull the handle from the inside.
Any passenger can open the door by pulling the lever twice. I can unlock all doors including boot by pressing the unlock button.
Work great and safe!

regards,
Thierry

Just this morning I've had the car reconfigured. It took about 8 minutes: 6 minutes for the mechanic to find the settings in the documentation and 2 minutes to program the new configuration.

But I didn't have the locks reconfigured, after the accident last summer my car believed it had an alarm system (which it doesn't). So all kinds of errors where logged by the diagnostic system and recently found there. The presence of a car alarm is stored in the same variable as the door configuration.

Since I was present during the reconfiguration I saw that there are several more options: the blinking of the turn signal can for be independantly disabled for locking / unlocking the car.
