Today I.....

... said farewell to Bo, our blue TDI colour storm. I also said hello to a new A2 base 1.4 petrol which arrived from Orkney on Sunday with permission from the boss! So much for trimming the fleet. I'll post a photo when weather permits.
Was this the low mileage one on eBay with the blue interior?

... got the next pair of speaker adapters routed. Sanding still needed, then I will do a quick test fit, glue them together, paint and then they can go to a tester... any volunteers? Know approximately how long it takes to make them now and have a good process running, so with another couple of ring templates I should be good to go on the small series. Need a replacement router bit (this one flush trim bit is too long) but that will need shipping from the UK.
Will probably make 8-9 pairs to start with.

I think I might also be able to source more of those GZ drivers as well for a nice price, will test them and see how well they work with the adapters.

I do like my car hifi and whilst it may not be practical for me to test as a first port of call due to distance I'd be very much interested in how this pans out if suitable for bose cars - can those drivers be found with varying impedance?

The GZ drivers are three ohm. If I remember correctly, the Bose ones are 2...though the correction is in the amp itself, so I'm not convinced on any improvement in quality.

Worked with my dad to remove the old slam panel, fit the new one & fit the new wing. All in at times torrential rain!!!

Just need to fit sort all the alignment out and pop the bumper on tomorrow. Because of course it’ll be that easy!!!

Massive thanks to @oneflewover and @depronman who’s generosity and help with the parts has been invaluable but mainly to my wonderful father. Whilst enormously irritating much of the time he works like a Trojan despite not being in the best of health and gets through so much work in a day. He’s spent a huge amount of time stripping down the car and fettling the new parts to ensure it’ll all go back together as it should and probably be better than it was before. Love you dad. ?

So today we finished lining everything up, got the front panel on, re fitted the headlights, re fitted the inner wings, re fitted the under tray, re fitted the near side sill, popped on the wheels, filled up the washer bottle and test drove it. Very pleased to say it still feels like an A2 and nothing fell off. So far!!!

Mounted the original magnesium hub caps on my A2.

I have just CAD modelled the segment that is removed to inflate the tyre so that I can 3D them and the retaining cord
I did the job for Rob at WOM and very unlikely to ever sell any into the UK market as those wheel trims were never sold on the UK spec cars
Let me know if you need one or more as I’m told they are easily lost

Lovely looking A2 that you have

Cheers. Paul

It’s a nice design the outer trim is in dummy sections except one which is not a dummy and is detachable

That is correct. I didn’t notice it first so I had to remove all caps and mount the correctly. One nice feature is that the dummy section has a plastic cord that is attached to the cap which should minimise the risk of loosing it. Similar to the small plastic caps that covers where you mount the hi-jack.

That is good to know that you have them if I would lose one. Thanks, I am very happy with the 3L that I bought and I am amazed how low fuel consumption it has. Average is now 3.2 L/100km since I bought it.

Looks a nice one David, lovely miles, and a bit of sun as well!
It was hiding its low mileage under years of neglect though a quick mop is showing how difficult it is to destroy these aluminium treasures. Brake discs due tomorrow to be fitted along with droplinks for its MoT next week. Exhaust will scrape through while I arrange a replacement.
The 1.4 is a lovely engine, so quiet compared to the 3 pots. The gearbox is a delight too.
