Today I.....

Today I continued the quest to repair a Votex front skirt. Earlier in the week I stitched the 2 big splits together with copper staples. Today I coated the splits and staples in some allegedly super strong bonding glue. 2 tubes were used so if successful will be well worth the £15 cost.

If you can, reinforce with aluminium strips (aluminum....... ?, sorry it sounds so funny if I watch YouTube clips by the Americans....) and attach these with pop rivets and polyester/glasfiber sheets. Ofcourse on the inside or where it won't be visible.

The 3m kits, as used by my local body shop, use expanded aluminium bonded to the inside, for strength. The structure of expanded aluminium (used to be used for speaker frets) makes it very stiff, once bonded, while pre bonding, it is easy to form to the shape of the panel being repaired.
Mac.

The weather was great today, so for the 1st time in 8 months of being in my possession , I gave baby blue (mum is a blue A3 sportback & dad is a blue S-max) a thorough wash & wax before taking a ride in our nice countryside ....... what did she do ...... lit up the EML after about 10 mins driving.

The joys of FSI ownership !!

Stopped to take these & other pics ; drove off & no EML, so non the wiser !!

Yes definitely get rid of that lacquer destroying muck, bit of wax after to protect that lovely paintwork.

Today I finally got to adding a (newer design) second key to my car and found it surprisingly easy.
If only it hadn't required 2 different diagnostic cables, an extra laptop for dodgy software, ordering a fob from france and a cut keyblade from 100 miles away... ?
At least I can now lose one and not be completely out of luck ?
