Today I.....

Today I've been to the Haynes Motor Museum, 2 hours away from me.
My A2 did great job both ways, sometimes felt the engine needed a bit more push to get up to speed, but it might be down to, that I don't drive longer distances much.
On the way there I even saw another A2, he kinda gave me a wave too.
The Haynes Museum is a great experience, I do recommend it, I spent so much time in there, I had to rush the last few rooms due closing time, they close a bit too early though. There's so many amazing car/bikes/etc. to see there, much more than I'd expected, I definitely want to go back later this year, plus the ticket is annual one, so pay once and use it for the next 12 months, also there's even a gokart track just next to it too.
Without spoiling much, here's 3 out of 200+ pictures I took today, +1 of my A2 waiting for me at closing time :D View attachment 104954View attachment 104958
For me it's the best motor museum in the country, by far!

Today I did the final oil change on Project Commuter before picking @Justin M up from the station.

It feels strange to now be A2less after having owned three of them in as many years and hope that the car is as trusty to the new owner as it has been to me and great to see it going to an A2OC member too.
Thanks Tom. @hydo14 I’m back home after picking up β€˜project commuter’. It’s a wonderful tdi and such a lovely spec. A testament to you that it’s in such good condition. And I feel honoured that the mantle had passed to me. The 6th gear was lovely on the m6. Very happy with the purchase thank you!

Replaced my fuel filter after a recent hesitation under acceleration. Given it had only done 30k miles it was choked. Back running as smooth as a 3 cylinder tdi ever will. A friend gave me the ramps which made it a 15 min job.

I thought the filter was under the rear wheels.

Glad to hear it. You’ll have to let me know what you end up naming it

Fitted Timing belt to Mr Silver. Found one sheared bolt and one flimsy bolt in the cam sprocket how it has survived is a mystery! Luckily the broken remnants chiseled out and I was able to find some 10.9 bolts in my tool box (actually sprinter suspension top mount bolts)
All seems good after the 7 mile journey home, will need to check the torsion/synchronisation value when I get chance

Braved the cold on the knuckle buster of a job that is removing the tailgate inside trim so I could replace the tailgate emergency release cord (big thanks to @Ami as always for supplying the part). Looks like I had a narrow escape!

Question: Whilst I have this trim off is there any maintenance I should be carrying out?

Grease any lock stuff I guess that's all. Dress trim panel just pull off using trim tools?
