Today I.....

Today I fitted the correct slatted grill for the age of the car (supplied by my good pal Andy Clayton πŸ‘) then loaded the Votex kit (supplied by my good pal Steve Edwards πŸ‘) in the back in readiness for going to the paintshop. Project NOT Nardo is full steam ahead 😊

P.S. I've got the old smooth grill here in good condition if anyone's looking for one πŸ€”

The weather says the storm is not until tonight so I have enlisted a helper (he says he wants an A2 when older after the Not in the Lakes meeting) just trying out a new idea for mounting Mk1 TT seats.

Today I filled up with 25 miles of range left having done 617 miles since the last fill on a trip from Devon to Sc**thorpe and back at the weekend, which is the furthest I’ve ever gone on one tank (with tank always burped and brummed!) - I think I can easily better that now as it was β€œonly” a 63mpg tank average.

The car just did the 150 miles from my home to Maidenhead in Berkshire at a trip average of 71.6mpg cruising at 65-70mph too so off to a flying start.

This weekend I replaced faded DIS display and with that completed the DIS cluster retrofit.
Also added can-bus wires for the Concert 2 that will be installed soon.

Be a little bit careful, brimming and burping in this very hot weather, as diesel fuel expands as it warms up. It's likely to be quite cool in the underground storage tank at the S/Stn, maybe 10 C to 12 C ish.
10 C rise in temperature equates to about 0.25 ltr in an A2 tank full.

Mac.

Mid to late 90's used to pick up diesel from a certain fuels terminal (rhymes with well) & was asked to take the temperature of the fuel which was (warm) in fact the tanker body was still warm 40 miles later and this was in winter.
We measured out a litre and left it overnight & it had dropped a couple of cc.
One fuel station said it was costing them over Β£30K/ yr.
It was around 50-60p / litre then. Good old specific gravity.

Mind you use to add 200 litres of Kerosene to 17,800 LTRs of diesel (winter fuel).

Polished headlamps and sealed trying to get another year out of them. Earth lead installed and parts order from Autodoc. Glow plugs oil and fuel filter and air filter.
What’s your method of polishing? I tried mothers mag on one recently and was reasonably impressed - it turned a good headlamp into a very good, but not quite as-new one.

Just hand polished each for 20 minutes or so with T Cut. Intend to remove each light and use drill to restore in the autumn. How did MAG go? Did yiu use a drill ? Any tips knowledge most welcome ! πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ»

I just copied an american guy on YouTube and polished using my car polisher with a mop, then I applied a ceramic lacquer coating. Should be good for 18 months or more, rather than the 3 months or so (I assume depending on how often the headlamps are washed?) cheaper UV headlamp polish products.

Finished the front suspension rebuild:
new shocks
springs
top mounts
drop links
dog bone
discs
pads
back plates.
flexi pipes.View attachment 109475
caliper rebuild.
replacement NS loom (PITA)
Looking good. Just in relation to your webasto exhaust connection, it seems your missing the connecting flange for the undertray fitment. I replaced the fixings on mine recently so have a pic that your jubilee clip should attach to.
