Today I.....

Obviously the day for it Tom @2work as I finally pulled my finger out and re coloured my replacement LHD glovebox secured from AT. It went from Grey to Twist.

Also, 3rd coat applied to this and it’s now good to be fitted once the paint has cured for a few days.

I’ve a brand new LHD headlight switch coming on this AT order thanks to @Rickmeister and @simufly so will probably wait and do them together

•Wash on Friday
•Tracking done on Saturday - it was completely out and now steers in a straight line
•New (old) replacement passenger headlight fitted Sunday
•Air-con regas BH Monday - first time that’s worked since I’ve had it - which is nice

Ready for another week!😁

Today I brought forward my front brake refresh as when I bled the bakes recently I noticed that the splash guards were in pretty poor shape.

At first I thought they weren’t too bad ….

…. then I found this on the lower bolt on one side!

No amount of PB Blaster was going to shift it, nothing to get hold of really, so ended up having to drill it out and clean the thread. New one went on with no drama with new stainless bolts.

All plain sailing from there

I am going to get some new screws to replace the disc holder screw, they came out without any drama but the heads are a bit chewed so to avoid any future problems ….

What a joy the Gunson Easy Bleed is, love it

Looks very nice. What brand is the caliper, it seems to not have the FS III markings on the outside?

I’d need to check the packaging, can’t remember off hand. When I was looking, very few seemed to have to OE marking. I am going to get a refurb kit for the originals and have a go at electrolysis for de rusting so if they turn out to be problematic I can re-fit the originals. Went for a good test drive and all seems good so far.

You should come & see the 1.4 before it goes, now engine is silent , white LED side lights, heated mirrors, heated screen wash, air conditioning nice & cold, really happy about the work with Derek helping with Cam cover.
Also sprayed the near side rear wheel arch :)

Lovely job Justin, you dont wanna part time job in my work shop do you ? :)

This morning i was bored so polished up my spare lower turbo pipe with Mothers alluminium compound. Its brought it up nicely as well as being good for the headlights.....
Hello Dave,

That’s come up very nicely Sir. It’s these little tasks that I like to do which present a bit of sparkle when you have the bonnet off. Great work.

Kind regards,

Tom

Today, I drove my A2 to work for the first time with a centre Arm rest. Wowzerz. What a difference it make to the feel of the vehicle from the drivers point of view.
I did have "a few" issues fitting it yesterday, but @depronman helped me out with trim issues on the fly via PM. Many thanks.
Still got to fit the 3D printed trim bits after I fettle the position. That will need the seats out to get to the centre console better. The bottom nuts were a real PITA to fit with seats in place.

Today I, replaced the EGR valve on my 1.4 AUA.

It had the 'constant suck' via the breather, and the low rev/speed response was really poor. No VCDS errors appeared though....

One of the studs came out, the other remained stubbonly in the block, however a detaching the rigid pipe at the other end allowed easy relase of the old valve.

I managed to find a Pierburg new item on eBay for £65, however when it arrived (sealed) there were no gaskets. Perhaps that is why it was cheap. The price from that supplier is now £210!!

Gaskets were easy and cheap to source.

All went in easily, and a quick visit to the 01 Engine measuring blocks, as per the instructions on Ross-Tech, appeared to set it up correctly.

Low rev take-up is now much better, along with a new clutch and slave cylinder bleed, makes city driving almost possible!

Matt

same here - the engine side bolt seems to get stuck - the other can be removed. would make it an easy job if they both came out

Went on with the rear axle refurb. These put up quite a fight
