Today I.....

Hi Tom
wow, perfect in my opinion, get my vote a very special car

J
Thank you J,

I’m obviously inclined to agreed Sir, a very special car indeed. It’s come from a from a good background but has really shown what can be achieved with a bit of dedication in the evenings. It was never going to be a cheap enhancement process but totally worth every penny.

Kind regards,

Tom

Another weekend, another engine out.

Hello all,

Today I… Removed the Pepperpots as they were sold to Carlos @Lymus. This left me without a set of wheels until a set of tyres are fitted to the A8 D2 wheels on Wednesday. As a temporary measure and to keep the vehicle mobile, Carlos left his set of 17” wheels.

Steve @A2Steve you may recognise these particular wheels Sir.

The larger and wider wheel does look better so happy with my decision to loose the Pepperpots. Cannot wait to get the A8 wheels fitted now.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello Kraig,

That looks spot on Sir. Great work. I may know someone who needs a set of 4 of these for a set of slightly larger centre caps for their A8 D2 wheels.

Kind regards,

Tom
will keep you updated , all the a2 stuff has been on the back burner . .

Today I, received my order for this weeks project, front suspension replacement.

Bilstein B4
Napa springs (happy to have SE, as soft as possible).
Meyle droplinks
Febi mount bearings.
and new pinch bolts.

I have had passenger side off already, so apart from certain destruction of the old droplinks, that should be easy.
What fun for the drivers side.....although that has already been done at some stage, so perhaps will come apart easier, once the resevoir business is dealt with.

Thanks for all the prior posts. Great resource and advice from you all.

Cheers

Matt

Recently bought some Clarke Pro sockets and spanners set. Couldn't get the sockets off the spruce without breaking it; and the spanners came with a wall bracket that was useless for transporting the spanners. So I ordered a carry case off ebay ["Waterproof Protective Hard Carry Flight Case Camera Equipment Storage Secure Box "] with thick foam inserts. Cost £16.

Arrived today and was pleasantly surprised to see that the foam was cut into 12mm squares with small webs joining them. So it was easily to cut spaces for the spanners & sockets using a craft knife, although I had to use long nose scissors to cut along under the squares. I made an error in putting the larger spanners too far to the right so there was insufficient room for the last spanner. The trouble with black foam is that it is difficult to see the squares.

The top section will have a plywood tray with cord handles. Currently there is a cardboard mock-up that showed that fixed handles would not work. I tried to add printed sickly labels with the sizes but couldn't get them to stick to the foam.

When the rain stopped I put it to use replacing a track rod end.
