Today I.....

Had another MOT refusal today, for mostly different things to the one 5 weeks ago (?????).
My wife took it to the local tyre depot/MOT testers to have the tracking sorted, post front suspension change.
As expected it was way out, after the PQ subframe change, they sorted most of that.
On her way there the ABS light came on, so that was a failure. VCDS has that off now the tracking is more or less cured.
But the steering is still very heavy/notchy. It's got me thinking. When I checked the PAS reservoir the oil level was off the stick. Could I have got air in the system and it needs bleeding?

Top the steering reservoir back up to the full mark on the stick then turn the steering several times full left to full right to purge any air. Recheck the level.

You have not said any steering warning lights. You could have a damaged steering rack that is leaking the fluid.

I don't have any warning lights, and VCDS shows nothing related.
When I changed the subframe it was very oily/dirty. I think one of the hose unions must be weeping.

Hello all,

Today I need to package up 20 sets of mats for dispatch. I’m sure all those involved in the Bespoke Branded Mats Group Order will be extremely happy with their purchase. Here’s a few pictures to show what’s been on offer recently

There were quite a few other various colour options which I’ve not pictured but guess you get the idea.

Having spoken to Dan, he confirms that the price paid will be honoured for the next few weeks if I was able to order 5+ sets at a time, so if anyone feels that they missed out then it’s not all over!

Kind regards,

Tom

Out of interest what did you pay for the atl engine. Is it warranties etc

370 delivered with warranty but i intend to strip it anyways to do injectors check and seals, check camshaft condition etc, belts, tensioners, oil chain etc... on first look i can see egr machined out on it,

true, doesn't look abused from outside, I should know bit more in few days when covers be taken out .... and fixed to still boxed stand first
You will need threaded rod cut to length with nuts and washers to mount the engine. My measuring gear is at my lockup but the rod looks like M12 * 1.75

ill unbox engine stand today to measure it up and see what I need in terms of fixing it to engine block, then check my work drawers for matching M12 bits and bobs so I could have it up and ready to work around this weekend

Today I made use of the members services map and had my AUA scanned and catalyst sensor fault cleared by Matt (Oskar on here). We had a very productive discussion on all things A2 and I came away with a fitted leather steering wheel (thanks again!), a spare front wing, and a few more items to put on my shopping list, including an 'UltraGauge' and an upgrade to DRL's. (I had been prep-ing the car for sale, but as I work through the minor faults I'm becoming resigned to keeping the fleet at two for now!) Many thanks Matt - the scanning service is brilliant!

This is, in turn, 3 days since this happened on our Touran with my wife driving, unrepairable sidewall slashed by something in the road to a brand new (<300 miles old) Michelin CrossClimate 2 that cost £170!!

Hi ,
Is it only white paint or is it through the top coat?
Looks like pot hole damage to me how is the wheel?
If it was local claim from council etc

Mostly scratches through the paint rather than paint transfer, not sure what hit it as my bl**dy Nextbase supposedly super duper dashcam didn’t pick it up.

The tyre wasn’t a pothole, there’s a lot of Devon flints around exposed after the heavy rains recently so best guess is she caught one just “right”.

Costco are good on prices for CCs, worth checking

Thank you George.

I managed to replace it once again for £120 delivered by good luck and by signing up to pay by PayPal credit which was a huge saving so at least it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

That’s going to take more than tee cut
Looks to be through the lacquer into the paint Back to the paint shop and hope they still have some paint left from the earlier repairs

Probably as they are extremely sharp, nothing recorded after? As it may take time to wake up
