Today I.....

My black A2, which I’ve owned for 15 years and has done ~260,000 miles, passed its MOT recently with no advisories. The smoke test score was 0.00. The tester initially thought his exhaust probe was faulty. 😀
Glad the battle-wagon is finally back on the road Tom :) What's the mileage on the TDI120 engine? Still, a zero smoke test score is impressive in any case 👍

Wasnt your donor car a 2005 car (soft touch), or you might have more than one donor?
Yes 2005, so it should have been soft. Perhaps a previous owner upgrade?
Seems an odd mix of parts. The rubber steering wheel, cheap handbrake and gearshift. I got just the one parts car (light blue) and the red revival colour storm.

Is that testament to its diet of two stroke oil at every fill, as well as regular maintenance after the engine build, do you think Tom? Any other contributing factors?

BTW I've sent you whatsapps and a PM ;-)

Today I went "old school" at my fabricators. Used their milling machine to fettle some seat brackets to fit TT seats in Jelly. Hoping they will also accommodate the A5 seats I have for Smurf!
Really enjoyed it, using a single point cutter on a really old vertical mill. Its been a while since I last used one!

Hello all,

Today I… Got my hands on a laser cut A1 armrest bracket from the CAD files which Duncan @DuncanA2 sent me a couple years ago prior to the commencement of the Bespoke A6 C5 Armrest Bracket Group Order.

Here’s is the bracket which is a work of art and true craftsmanship:

A friend had this bracket made up at work as a one-off; thank you Neil, very much appreciated Sir

From viewing my project threads, you’ll know I’ve already fitted 3 of the A6 C5 armrests to the fleet so why the decision to consider a change, well the answer is simply - why not. I find it weird when sat in an A2 without an armrest these days as I’ve had one for so long and easily covered some 100k miles with the additional storage and comfort. I must say that I really like then A6 C5 solution and cannot fault this results of a successful group order but just wanted something that little bit more special in the Jaipur Red A2 so have been hunting down a reasonably priced A1 armrest, which is now in my possession. Just need to get this bracket welded up and the trim items printed then painted and that’ll be another enhancement complete.

Kind regards,

Tom

Whilst sitting down for dinner last night I notice the 3d printed glove box separator that Depronman kindly sent to me, I have been at home for 3 days and no one had bother to tell me it had arrived.

So this morning I set about fitting the separator, connected the cable that was detached from the light, and lo and behold it doesn’t work.

I’ve checked the fuse, changed the fuse, changed the light bulb.

I have also noticed the number plates lights don’t work either.

Anyone knows what to do next?

Okay on further inspection, I have managed to get the Glove box light working, not sure what I did wrong, but I took the bulb out again and placed it back in and it’s working now.

The number plate bulbs were a different matter, I did replace them with LED a while back and forgot about them, thinking they were working fine until now.

I have replaced them for the bulbs I took out and now they are working fine.

LED are polarise meaning they need to be connected pos to pos and neg to neg else they don’t work

So simple turning the bulb around in the glovebox would be enough to make it work

Continued neglecting the myriad jobs on Tonka in favour of fitted the bargain solid aluminium paddles I’d acquired to La Contessa to replace the plastic crap Maserati fitted originally . Apparently a nightmare to do without removing the wheel. Not with a ball headed hex screw driver it isn’t!!!

Hello all.

Today I… Unloaded the EUD A2 after a trip to Wales. The contents included another Votex kit. I now have more Votex than A2s which can only mean one thing.

Time to start hunting for a contender to become my next project.

Also caught up with Al @Pie-eyedpiper who dropped off a set of SE wheels for Tom @noblet to collect along with his new bespoke branded mats.

Kind regards,

Tom
