Great car for teaching the youngsters how to drive.I suspect the insurance group will make it too expensive once she has passed her test and it'll need to be an Aygo or similar.
The next child is 17 next Jan so I figure teaching the kids to drive is a fitting role for the A2
My son has also had access to my A2 to help him learn to drive. He’s never been a fan of the car, always refusing to be seen in it, but as it’s the only manual car we own, so he’s had to put up with the embarrassment. However after finally mastering the shockingly poor clutch, I think he’s finally warming up to it. He’s currently using a dedicated Learner Driver Insurance company, which is complementary to my own policy, but I can’t see the A2 being an affordable car to insure once he’s past. Out of interest I asked the insurance company for a quote on a 17 year old fully qualified driver, the very nice insurance agent apologised profusely as he broke the news that I’d looking at over £4k….Great car for teaching the youngsters how to drive.
My daughter appreciated having a proper hand brake and the feedback to the clutch bite point
my son, well let’s just say he’s appreciating how good the sound quality from the stereo is and how frugal the Tdi engine is
That’s very good - Mine uses at least that, perhaps a little more. I don’t know as I check it every every couple of weeks.Today I checked the oil level on my TDi
It was low so added 500ml
Not bad consumption for 7000 miles
Using Castrol longlife SLX
Yes, my 17yr old son was quoted 2700 for his own insurance on the A2 TDi SE.My son has also had access to my A2 to help him learn to drive. Today I rectified this issue:

By being able to remove the number plate light housings easily and without dismantling the tailgate:

Decided to replace both bulbs as I guess the offside will no doubt follow the nearside and fail in the coming months. New bulbs in with fresh stainless steel screws:

Very happy with this satisfying 5 minutes task (after applying penetrating oil a few times a day over the last week).
Kind regards.
Tom

I’ve done this job for fellow A2 owners more times than I’ve had hot dinners, but have never seen one where the original seal was hanging out like that.Took the time to check the rear vents

Glad I did
Pretty sure the surrounds are no longer availableHad a go at refurbishing my headlights as they were very yellow and I think had been attempting previously but not well. Very pleased with the improvement so far. Sanded from 600 to 7000 grit and them polishing compound. They still need a lacquer top coat to finish them off (arriving tomorrow from Amazon)
However the rubber surrounds are really poor with pieces missing and lots of splits/tears. Are they still available to buy replacements or is anybody selling a pair in reasonable condition? The ones on currently are a complete circle and go around the whole headlight (or should do!!) I've attached a picture of the only numbers I can see on the rubber but doesn't seem to be a part number I can Google.
Cheers Dave
