Today I.....

discovered that my punishment for leaving a certain someone at Heathrow for a week is air con failure (just as the weather warms up of course). She is in for a service on Friday so hopefully after a bit of love and attention from Mark, she will be fine for the weekend

Is it blowing warm instead of cold, or just blowing cool.

If it is blowing warm then try cycling the temperature between max and low several times. Just in case the temperature flap has stuck.
It may have been set to blow heat for some time but you may not have noticed???

wirth trying first.

New reg

So, I gave the Allroad a new identity today ...

Yes, I KNOW it's an A6, but I already had the plate on retention, therefore didn't actually cost me anything.

You didn't!

I did,

So it will have a minor EGR error sorted and a few minor error codes checked over and resolved and then it will be put up for sale on here at a very reasonable price (totally at cost as usual).

Watch this space, it may well be my last bargain A2 for sale!

Thanks Steve - I think you may be right - it was just blowing cool, but I put it on auto when I got in her last night which made it blast out cold air and she seems to have been absolutely fine since then. So it was either something stuck or she was sulking (I know you think I'm bonkers, but she is the only car I've had who has put her EML light on when I've raised my voice!) :)

I am pleased it is working now as it's going to be a hot one at the weekend

Thanks again Steve

... got back from a very, very busy week away with work for which we were preparing for months...

now to sort out a date for Icetrack 2018 :)

Its surprising how a new water bottle really lifts the look of the bonnet area. Good work in getting those hoses done as they can be problematic on the fsi. We have recently discovered how good the engine bay can be cleaned and how good it comes up. If you go on youtube and search "car cleaning guru" https://youtu.be/EYRBsI_yLPg

Enjoy your A2 mike

...decided that the time has come to sell my A2. I've already bought another A2 so I'm not going anywhere but I want to get the money together to buy a mk1 TT. Watch this space for a for sale advert soon although I've tried parting with it before and it wouldn't let me.

Well this plan has gone down the shoot. The replacement 1.4 petrol arrived at the beginning of the week and it only highlighted just how much work i've put into the way my car drives. Although my first A2 was a 1.4 petrol now by comparison, the acceleration between the 1.4 petrol and my TDI is like chalk and cheese. Even with a TT available as a second car I don't think I could regularly drive a 1.4 petrol.

So today I....have decided to keep going with my TDI. More work on its way :)

Today I achieved my best mpg to date. Travelling from Manchester to Exeter at a steady 58-60mph and slipstreaming where possible I got a calculated 82.3mpg and a DIS readout of 81.5mpg. This was with 175/65/15 tyres, aero kit, rear seats removed and passenger seat removed.

Well, I spent a while this afternoon hacking a TT Symphony III unit about to make it fit in the A2's aperture. It's not a bad job, just don't let me loose on an RNS-E ;) Photos to come once I've got the code.

Above, Symphony II+ from Audi TT - needs some more work to get it in properly, but glad I had a practice. Awaiting the code of this one. Still have my original A4 Symphony II+, so I'll have a go at that one later.

Also fitted this tonight. Simple mod, but looks much better imho... Especially with the red leather of the seats etc.

Did you find the wiring was correct or did it need altering ?

With the Kafutec cable all was well, apart from the fact that they sent me the wrong aerial cable, so I had to send that back yesterday.

Looking great Jeff; great job.

MK Cobalt Blue is clean and has been treated to a quick detail. Forecast for the morning now looks rather pants mind, so I don't rate my chances of making it with a clean car sadly... Hope it proves to be wrong.

To echo Jeff, safe journey to all travelling to the show.
