Today I.....

Took the centre vent out and replaced it with one that was sent by Steve. One of the plastic adjuster clips had broken leaving one end of it inside the vent (couldn,t get it out in situe) and I was concerned it may find its way back into the blower system and cause issues.

Looking at the centre vent it appears that the facia does separate from the rear section but not sure how to without breaking it. Has anyone ever attempted this please as I,d like to try and repair the original vent clip ?.

Cheers
Dave:)

Thankyou for the loan of the radio keys Jeff... much appreciated !...... and to Steve for supplying a centre vent in great condition. :)

Yesterday, on my way down from the mountains, my five year old son asked me why the temperature gauge pointed straight up at 90 deg.
It has not moved and indicated "cold engine" since I bought the car 1.5 years ago, hence my sons question. On the day of purchase, the former owner informed me of the faulty temp gauge, and that an Audi garage had looked into it at the time, not able to find the fault. If Audi could not fix it, I did not bother investigating the faulty temp gauge further.
Anyway, now it works, after 1.5 years of not working :)

The above mentioned son, driving the last hundered meters to the cabin (on closed road, sitting on my lap, 1'st gear, only steering, so not totally irresponsible) - before the temp.gauge repaired itself.

I know i "drove" on my granddads lap and also my dads lap as a little lad (yes i was little once) Great memories ---lets hope the gauge fix is permanent.

Today i took the A2 to the Garage again, this time a shreadded alternator belt. The belt was only just changed last summer but it broke due to oil being everywhere in the engine bay. Getting a new alternator while it is in as well

Oh the joys of limp mode , my TDi daily drivers decided to throw a fit today with all the bells and whistles when i launched it out of a junction sharpish and on going to second gear discovering theres no power and the dash sqeaking at me, so travelled the last few miles at a crawl and on turning the engine off i noticed it took longer and was somewhat louder when it stopped running, a quick look under the bonnet and i noticed one of the vacume pipes had come off the engine shut off valve so pushed it back on, had a look around the other vacume pipes and intercooler and everything seemed fine and now the engine starts and stops as it should but if i push above 3000rpm it goes into limp mode Grrrrrrrrrrrr Looks like ile be busy replacing vacume pipes this weekend

I fitted a better condition drivers side headlamp and had a reconditioned alternator fitted + belt due to a very slight bearing rumble. Gave him a wash, as its going to rain tomorrow, in prep for Sundays Temple Newsham meet. :)

Got the car back and had asked for them to check where the oil leak is coming from. Not only is the intercooler leaking but the turbo is too, Lovely :(

This morning I got in the A2 at 6 am to find no power steering.....took the allroad to work instead

Spent a couple of hours this evening removing various parts of the car and found I have a leaking sump gasket and this in turn has run down into he oil level sensor and caused that to fail a couple of days ago.

Found that fuse 38 10amp was blown, replaced it blew straight away still no power steering, disconnected the oil level sensor as they are on the same circuit and replaced fuse and power steering is back working.

Cleaned the plug and sensor out with contact cleaner and a paint brush, leaving it over night to dry to see how it is tomorrow when I plug it back in.

Last night it was pointed out that my offside brake light appeared to be "stuck on" so today I swapped around the stop and tail light bulbs and it all works perfectly again..... gremlins !.

Yesterday I spotted another red Colour Storm, that I decided to chase a little bit. Just as I reached this red one, a yellow Color Storm came in the opposite direction. Unfortunately I did not manage to take a picture ot the two together. Only a blurry one in the side mirror just after it had passed.

Spotted:

Chased down:

The one that passed in opposite direction.

And for the curiosity, its quite significant difference in size on the Tesla Model X and the A2.

Had my cam belt and water pump replaced along with a few wee things (gear box oil, drop links etc).
'That's some mileage on there!' Says the garage owner, Tommy 'but there's nothing more needs doing - can't find anything wrong!'

Happy day at 198,000 miles - now for the 200k club!
