Today I.....

... fitted Buzz with an A1 gear knob. I like OEM though it had a sharp piece of trim that was annoying me, had similar on our FSI. I also treated Woody (my daily) to a DIS bargain from ebay. For those eagle eyed members, the current avg mpg is 25ish(car hasn't moved since install) hence the low range shown.

Interestingly, my first tank of petrol since my cruise control and DIS upgrade took me more than 300 miles (34L tank, 1.4 SE) which is more than the 250/260 miles I previously achieved, with overall consumption at over 46mpg compared with the 40 mpg average previously achieved. Not sure if that is the effect of cruise control or watching the instantaneous mpg readout....

Was gearknob a easy enough job to install?

This post usually has the "today I passed the xxx,000 miles" post. Mines a bit different. I log all my fuel in a spreadsheet. Today I passed the 6,000 litres since I bought it in early 2005. Here's a snapshot:

52542

I used to regularly get between 60 and 70 mpg (red line/buzzer to red line/buzzer) but shorter journeys makes that more elusive - almost reached it on the last 35 litres. If I drove slower on motorways I would reach it but hate being in the nearside lane being overtaken by juggernauts !

PS I started a new spreadsheet on 6th April each year so Last Red Alarm cell N3 was the last one in 2018/19.

You should use Fuelly it’s an app for this, I racked up 20k of tracking on it.

Yes but I didn't know about Fuelly when I started (maybe it wasn't arround in 2005) and I would have 60k to back date! Actually, I've just noticed that today I've driven 76,000 miles since I had the A2 with nothing unexpected gone wrong.
