Just had mine put on. The Michelin crossclimates do give a much harder ride than my summer tyres (Goodyear Efficientgrips).Today I accept winter is on he way and as such the pepperpot wheels with Michelin cross climates on the front are on. Also replaced the Bush that sits at the bottom of the rear spring. Should have done it at the same time as the springs but unwittingly only ordered one.
I had 17" wheels with Yokohama tyres which are old and have very little give so they feel plush.Just had mine put on. The Michelin crossclimates do give a much harder ride than my summer tyres (Goodyear Efficientgrips).
Today I discovered that Gracie’s developed an unpleasant vibration… it‘s low frequency, most noticeable through the steering wheel, and comes on when accelerating from 50 to 60 regardless of what gear I’m in. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s something as innocent as a wheel weight that’s gone missing so going to get my wheels balanced at my local independent tyre place (where they know the A2’s jacking points) first thing tomorrow. I’m hoping this will fix it but not overly optimistic as I’m worried about it being more prevalent under acceleration than at a steady cruise, but it’s something I need to rule out I guess before getting on the phone to Gary (B&F autos). Other thoughts what these symptoms might indicate welcome… it surely can’t be the DMF as it was replaced 9 months and a few 000 miles ago at WOM.
DoneI've just added a How-to post on Removing & Reinstalling the Headliner [Headlining] Perhaps an Admin could add it to the How-to index please.
@depronman can print you a new dipstick end that will last longer than the original. As of late this morning that's two clean MOT passes in two weeks and services completed for my pair of A2's, very happy with that. Confirming my suspicions, the Crystal one is going to need a new alternator pulley, and has also eaten the end of its dipstick - as they do The dipstick (part number 8Z0115611E) has not long gone obsolete with Audi, but there are still some genuine new ones on eBay, albeit pricier than they used to be.
I know, and I'll be going there with the next one that goes on either of the fleet. By then I most likely won't be able to fulfil my preference for OEM for this part at even a semi-reasonable cost. It's great that we have a solution in our community@depronman can print you a new dipstick end that will last longer than the original.
That's good you've had good experience with KF, but I avoid them since they messed up my last MOT, my A2 was almost a write-off after their test.Today I took Ethel in for a long overdue free tracking check at Kwik Fit. Despite having new shocks, track rod ends, drop links etc she was set up perfectly which saved me £67 on any adjustments. Happy with that.
Agree with Sylvester. That's good you've had good experience with KF, but I avoid them since they messed up my last MOT, my A2 was almost a write-off after their test.
Then I took it to another garage and it cost me £120. I'm sure as a big company those garages can differ, but it put me off big time using them ever again.
Best replace an axle set with a decent pair....I discovered that the new (secondhand ) 15" wheels I fitted to the front axle had different tyre sizes
175/60 R15 one side 176/65 R15 on the other !
Still the benefit to ride comfort from the original 16" wheels has been remarkable.
Yes, I've taken the plunge for a new pair of all season tyres : - Goodyear Vector 4 G2Best replace an axle set with a decent pair
You thinking of winter tyres or all-seasons?
