Today I.....

Used a clay bar on my gloss black neglected paintwork. Then polished gently after. On the right is how the rough as he'll paint dried back!!! It was so contaminated, worst I'd seen.

A further polish and top coat will follow. Jesus it was a mess!

Lost all power in the A2 over the weekend accelerating in 5th above 60.
No warning lights on the dash, and power regained after an ignition cycle.
A scan showed charge pressure control positive pressure deviation. After a quick look found, the solid black vac hose going to the turbo had come out of the braided black rubber hose. I cleaned the hose and managed to get it back in.
After a quick drive at high revs all looks good. Going to remove the hoses and change the rubber braided sections as a precaution.

oh, the A2 had 8V when i measured it the other day, so before track it went onto the ctek for a while... now to see what the voltage is when i check after a week or so of being in sleep mode. But I need to be able to get into the hall, and that means shifting about 18" of snow.

Morning all,

Today I… received the Platinum Rear Cup Holder obtained from this thread:

My thanks to Marcus @moxox as it’s immaculate and I’m extremely happy with this purchase:

Just need to ensure my next project has a Platinum interior as it would be such a shame to recolour this immaculate item.

Kind regards,

Tom

Today I changed the throttle body and fuel pump, huge difference to the car, so much smoother and looks to have gained a far amount of MPG in the process… nice, this and the EGR have had a big difference. I was going to change the injectors however autodoc sent the wrong parts for this, so another day…

Tdi or petrol?

Finally got the Dremel out and cut up my centre vent for current Ipad control centre project. It's not beautiful, but the utility is what I am after. It all connects and works (as tested, so far), however I await a special lightning connector to keep it as tidy as I can.

I'll do a full write up later, as these things are never as simple as they first appear, but it fully integrates with my head-unit and Connects2 bluetooth, and turns off with the key etc. Satnav, BBC, Spotify etc all built in to an A2. Now I just need to install the batteries and electric motor!!!!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. A bold move which can easily be reversed engineered back to factory as what you have cut into the whole unit with vents cup holders and hazard warning switch can be bought online.
Where has the hazard swich been relocated to?

Guessing,... probably sits behind the iPad? :) 👍

It is currently disconnected, but I will probably relocate to the bin below the climate unit, beside my DRL switch. Just a short loom required.

I cut up a spare vent, so can all be reversed to original in about 10 min.

Look forwards to your write up. I've been so busy I had forgoten about your iPad project. Keep up the good modification work! :) 👍

Once I gave it some heat and did the millimeter movements back and forth it came out ok.
Not sure what the bolt is made from it may have taken a weld. Only problem is, no welding tackle.
