Today I.....

Today I started my heated seat upgrade ready for some Timmus wiring magic next week. For anybody contemplating this job - getting the seat covers off and back on again is not a job for the faint hearted - you need a really good quality pair of strong side cutting pliers in order to cut the hog rings off to release the covers. So far I've just done the passenger seat and will wait a couple of days for my fingers to recover after all the pulling and prying before attempting the drivers seat.

Today I came home to discover this had happened to the A2 I bought 4 weeks ago Note to partner, in an argument with a concrete post, the post will win!!

 
Ouch. Really sorry to read this Peter; hope your other half is okay.

Yes he's all fine thanks :) The car less so ☺️ Beyond economic repair I reckon...it's definitely taken out the aircon, bumper, crash bar, bonnet, grille. I haven't taken the bonnet off on the basis I'll never get it back on, but I suspect it's damaged the cooling fan as, after just having the thermostat replaced so the car reached normal operating temperature, it now flashes the low coolant/overheating warning after a while... :(
 
Ran Liquimoly Diesel Reiniger through the engine to clean the intake and what a difference! The engine sound is probably only about half as loud during driving as it was before and the car pulls happily from much lower rpm. Less vibration at low rpm as well.

The car is replaceable; people not, so the A2 has done its job in that regard thankfully.

If it is not repairable, I hope that your short-lived ownership has convinced you to get another A2 (that and the club ;)).

If the worst comes to the worst, you can hopefully recoup some cash by selling parts and also you get to salvage the good bits for your replacement.

Don't worry, I've already found a denim (I think?) blue one just down the road :)

It's a 1.4SE as well. So if it drives ok that's the replacement sorted. Then just need to see if it's easy enough to transfer the MFSW and DIS!!
 
After 170,000 odd miles I had to fit a new battery to my car today.

OK I admit it Mike fitted it for me :)

Yes, but 'not hot' and 'cold', how different could they be.
 
... enjoyed driving 350 km with the little one on a sunny day. The best thing was that I located the constant buzzing from the passanger seat and eliminated it with my hi-tech buzz-killer!

... found what was making a ratling noise every time I slam the boot door. It was nothing inside the door, just the number plate frame! It's gone. Well, the front one too. And the old toll stickers are gone too, a nightmare to remove.
