VCDS Torsion Value

Yeah thats it so 0.0 the "ideal"

What mpg under what conditions do you get?

What diagnostic software is that?

That’s VCDS using the mobile app.

Average over 20k miles is 63.5mpg mix of driving.

Including a 14 miles commute/ school run which includes city, dual carriage ways and country roads.

Best on one tank was 78.7mpg this was mainly dual carriage (a14) and motorways for 500 miles this was with 3 adults and 1 baby, and the car so full with luggage you couldn’t see out the back windows and the footwell on one side full. Very careful driving around 50-60mph to achieve that however over 500 miles.

Is it this values
Hi,
Is your TV steady 0.0 under all circumstances? The usually fluctuate a bit, especially under load. It should retard by a half degree.
In some cases TV stays at steady 0.0, the TV is out of range. But that will probably not be the case with your A2, given your average consumption. Could be a good idea to check though. ?

I saw 0.6 but mainly 0.0

Reset trip upon fuel light appearing, fill at soonest chance, log when light comes back on and divide figure by 4.55

How does this compare to your DIS if you have one? As I’ve always measured at the pump, as the DIS is mikes out and gets progressively worse the higher the mpg

Sadly no DIS lol

Yep calculate at the pump (using the spritmonitor app) after having brimmed the tank using the burping vent. It’s the only accurate way!

So fuel light came on at 300 miles, my record is 340 with mixed driving and i feel the driving on this tank would have yielded a good mpg return (that said winter is not the best time to trial this)

So i have re-adjusted and now see 0.6 0.0 -0.6
Will see what this tank brings!

Best tank ever (well it was very close to bringing the light on but needed fuel for the morning) think 360 would have been acheived, anyway got 352 out of just shy of 25 litres this was with esso diesel where as the previous was asda, have refilled with asda again so if it drops wildly i will resort to my previous avoidance of supermarket fuel!
I get that as on average just over 64 mpg

I didn't know about the VCDS mobile app. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks!

@fhl VCDS mobile is for their Hex-Net adapter ONLY. So if you do not have that version of VCDS you CAN NOT use the mobile app.

Out of interest how does everyone measure their mpg?

I have an Android phone and use Fuelio which allows mpg to be calculated, track all you expenses, vehicle tax, car parking, insurance and plots out monthly miles in the car, cost per mile, mpg etc...

I've changed the torsion value in the past and it is a method of trial and error adjustment of the timing but a 'Zero' value is not necessarily the optimum setting.

As Ross Tech point out below, it was never intended to be used on PD or Common Rail engines

What are the units for the two axes? (I think that's the plural of axis ...)

Ref note, bottom left on graph, vertical is injection timing advance and horizontal is fuel temp. The blue line is 'nominal' timing and the other lines show the max and min spec
