Exactly. In the video, the cluster was on his workbench.

I don't have a VCDS socket on my bench!!!
There is a socket on the back of the cluster.
I would recommend finding that youtube video - it was months ago that I saw it, I don't remember the details. But the guy had the cluster on his bench, out of the car, and he was testing it via the port on the back using some sort of lead (maybe a custom one). I think the subject of the video was about replacing the LED panel.
PS This is not the video that I saw, but it shows a cluster being benchtested.

Yeah, I know that it is not a VDCS socket, that's why I said 'maybe a custom one [lead]'.
Take a look at the 2nd video I just linked, forward the video to the 14 minute point.
-- Edit:
Another video. This guy says that he got the necessary wiring diagram off the TDIClub forum.

But the white fascia plate is very floppy? I would think that is right though as it has to be transparent, so they can't be too thick.
Hi Steve,
They will produce a dial to my exact specification for 119 Euro. If I wanted 10 of these, then it would be only 89 Euro.! I am a bit concerned about what you have said, above? The standard dials are aluminium and quite solid? I can't understand what you mean when you say that they have to be transparent? Please help me here by elaborating and consequently dispelling any doubts that I may have over this products quality and durability?
Regards
David
...
Did they say that we could include TDI and 1.4 and 1.6 all in that 10 or would they all have to be identical?
...
Last time we talked about it (with a different supplier I think), they had to be all identical. I don't know if this supplier has the same rules or not.
especially if you manage to get 10 together and get that price down.
Did they send you an image that you could put on here to show the font and the KPH?
So I would go ahead, see if you can get 10 others (should be possible).

I reckon this is a bit of a find, I know that £100 (in my case foe a one-off) seems a lot to those that are not interested in personalising their A2, but I personally think that the effect it has is great for that money.
By the way, you have to add around 16 Euros for the shipping.
Hi,Hi Steve, A few answers .... No, no image sent ... I fear that the 10 units would have to be identical. (However, I'll ask them, anyway). I think that there is no chance of getting multiple purchases with other members. Maybe one or two more, that's all. You did say that the £100 that you were paying was "all-in"? So postage is extra? However, £100 is an excellent price! Just look what that other, UK firm was asking! I'm pretty sure that providing that you are 100% satisfied with your purchase, then in the New-Year, I too will be going that route .... I've always been so impressed with white-dials, because black numerals against a white background are so much clearer! I reckon that I'll be able to pick out those KMPH readings so much easier than I do with my current dials! Steve, I so admire the way you dare to be different! Just why shouldn't A2OC members show individuality without receiving a hurtful and unpleasant response from certain members? Well done!
