Your A2 plans for 2024

A slightly early happy new year to you all!

I normally start one of these threads each year, simply because i'm nosey.

What are your A2 plans for 2024? Use, maintain, preserve, modify, make it into the 200K club?

My plan is simply to get the business back on track, i've drifted off for the last 6 weeks or so and had little motivation with everything else going on, but hoping to get things up and running properly again for 2024.

Lets hear your plans?

At the risk of sounding really dull i want to get the lower trim panels resprayed in matt black. They are pitted towards the rear arches so in need of a refresh.

I cant decide which set of wheels to refurb....either the 17" sports or pepperpots. Decision to be made in Springtime.

At the moment my main plan is to get the headlight wash bumper fitted to the white car, get the Yellow FSI CS running properly and finally get the Votex kitted red Tdi sport resprayed and back on the road but I'm sure there'll be loads more for me to do along the way šŸ˜€

Merry Christmas, Steve. Here are my plans:

Currently prepping my old bonnet, to see how well I can spray and coat it, as a bit of an experiment.
Going to give changing my oil sensor a go, when the weather improves. Will try swapping front bumper (from you) at same time.
Started to try to replace my door micro switch, but will probably need Ami's help to go the whole way.
Really want to go full Bose. Planning trip to see Tom and combine with lakes visit.
Going to replace my climate and light fascias. My soft touch are really worn. I have some mint ones put aside for me.
My headlining has started to go at the back. This probably needs to be a priority. Need to get booked in with Ami.
Don't laugh, but would love to paint my dolphin grey in '80s Quattro S1 E2 livery. Probably won't happen this year, though.
Not much, then!

1) Get the 1.2 transmission issues sorted. Armed with a newly acquired endoscope Iā€™ll be scrutinising the condition of the guide tube and potentially the clutch release bearing if access allows. Then itā€™ll be up to WOM to either replace that (and at the same time oil pump chain and Cambelt) or hunt for whatā€™s causing the issue if it isnā€™t that.

2) once thatā€™s sorted replace the headlining.

3) tidy Tonka up and get him a clean mot ticket at the end of March before putting him up for sale (assuming the 1.2 is sorted!!)

My aim for 2024 is not to get seduced into buying anymore A2's, 2 and a campervan between us is comfortable amount, although Martin still undecided if he's keeping his or not.

Happy New Year everyone šŸ„³

With a car as mint as Ethel, it will only be small jobs that can be done.

I'm not making any firm plans, because too many times I've bought all the kit to do upgrade projects on a wave of enthusiasm, but never found the time and/or reconsidered those goals, and ended up selling it on again. There are a couple of areas where a little refreshing and the odd upgrade wouldn't go amiss on both the FSI and my daily Crystal TDI. But equally, without doing anything, both are perfectly usable and presentable for what they are. So I'll just say that I'm definitely going to continue driving and enjoying them :D. I'll also hopefully host @timmus again at some point for more customer retrofits, the extended A2 social on my driveway is my favourite way to spend my annual leave!

Afternoon all,

So what could be lurking in 2024ā€¦

Off the top of my head the job list looks like this:

Project OEM
Replace the Webasto
PDC/OPS display within ColorMFA
Add the Votex kit

Project EUD
Fit the 3DColorMFD cluster
Add a JR Votex spoiler Complete
Complete the SideGuard retrofit
Complete the rear PDC retrofit
Tidy up the areas of lacquer peel
Install front and rear Nextbase dashcam

There is also a potential purchase thatā€™s gaining momentum which will become the next A2 that I through absolutely every conceivable optional extra (and more) at. Itā€™ll be an enjoyable venture to keep me busy thatā€™ll assist me continuing to build my experience in such arts.

Kind regards,

Tom

I didn't see that coming, but if it's not in use then why not.
Having bought this thing, I canā€™t justify keeping them all sadly šŸ˜Ÿ

Due to the recent aquisition of an i3 my A2 plans are limited, but briefly in time for Feb MoT, get wheel bearing fixed, replace distorted front pepper pot (pothole damage), fix hand brake, wash. Probably followed by return to the back of the garage.

Immediate plans are
Jelly... to pimp the rear indicators. Have a plan and parts ordered so fingers crossed. Also to fit then wire the Mirror Casings with scrolling indicators.
Hmmm bit of an obsession with indicators I feel!
Smurf... to get the full interior pimped, re-cover the headlining and doorcards, and get the dash swapped to double din. Fit the A5 seats, full electrics and heating. Re-spray the front bumper, then laquer it, and the rear bumper, together with a Votex kit, and fit.
Pimp the Rear Lights and Mirror Casings as per Jelly. Maybe a modified exhaust, but that's not essential.

I need to extract my digit and crack on in the new year!

In 2023 I actually bought two A2s, so definitely no further car purchases!!

I will slowly continue to improve my 1.2, and search for spares (a long, slow process generally because of scarcity). All the essentials are already done :)

My newest- 1.4 petrol aua, has been promoted to daily. Somehow I've already got lots of spares for the 1.4... so watch out for me in the marketplace. 2025 (not 2024) a project is in the making...

Having just bought this low milerā€¦. I shall limit to just keeping A2 roadworthy this year.

I plan to drive Audrey this year mostly as the car is - but there are a few jobs keeping it from perfection for what I want:

Body & paint

- Get the damage caused by the swipe from our gardenerā€™s tipper lorry repaired

- Have the lifted lacquer on the passenger front door addressed at the same time

- Rust-proof the rear axle as it looks like I regularly reverse the thing into the sea currently.

Interior

- Replace the centre and passenger vents to correct missing toggles (have the parts)

- fix or replace the passenger front cupholder, it sticks in due to past coffee spillage

- Replace the drivers window fascia plate and central locking switch with new OE parts from Audi Tradition

- replace the driverā€™s rear door card (have the replacement)

- Get round to refinishing the damaged soft touch-like finish on the bottom of the centre armrest mount

-Find a solution to cover the upper rear bumper when loading heavy things - Iā€™ve seen a fold-out rubber mat that you Velcro to the inner boot on Amazon so current plan is to try that.

Electrics

- Diagnose the cause of the battery bei mg flat after the festive period

- Bring the high tone horn back out of retirement.

- Fix the heated rear screen and mirrors, which are also currently absent without leave

Mechanical

Diagnose the ā€œlooseā€ faint but distinct clunking on rough roads

EDIT: Thatā€™s actually quite a long list isnā€™t it!
