I don't believe that you have to. Two of mine have passed their MOT a couple of times each, without the EGR.Thanks!
Just saw the 3 quid blanking plate! http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A2-A3-...3A1676509215d0a861dff020e3ffeee26a%7Ciid%3A14
Do I have to reattach the egr when I go for mot?
EGR/Anti Shudder valve has arrived today, it's a little choked up with carbon deposits so needs a thourogh clean before it's ready to be fitted, I am now thinking wether it would be sensible to blank off the EGR valve when replacing it, does anyone know the Pro's/Con's of doing this and also if it effect the emissions test during an MOT?
You could have blanked off the old egr... no need to get a new one to blank it off...
I was thinking of blanking the exhaust inlet to the ERG valve and leaving all of the vacuum connected up for now. Would seem a shame to clean it only to let it get sooted up again.
Cleaned up the EGR/Anti Shudder Valve ready for Friday, hopefully this will stay clean for the next few years, still in two minds wether to disconnect the EGR Valve, I am running low SAPS oil and using premium diesel so I would imagine that it will run fairly clean.
