An OpenSky is reborn!

When I brought my A2 I was pleased it had a Sunroof but it wasn't a major requirement initially when I was looking for the car. I am of course disappointed that these OSS have such problems as mine now has and now I have it I want to get it fixed.
I am booked to go to Rinners at the end of this month but am considering the UK option carefully to save on financial outlay. It still seems a lucky dip at the moment whether your local Audi UK service centre will consider repairing the cursed OSS or not with the obvious exception of Brighton of course.

Would be great if a list of willing Audi UK centres could be drafted up for the future regarding OSS repairs?

Still its good to see whats happening!:)

Brutus, Nigel it could be worth speaking to the warranty guy at your local dealership and making them aware the Worthing warranty guy knows the procedure/code(s) for claiming.

I've just realised something Worthing and Rinner have in common; they're both in the far south

nuttinnew,

Great minds think alike:p

I have just emailed Canterbury Audi on this very issue so will have to see.:)

Worthing isn't that far for me but Canterbury is only 9 miles away so perhaps its the sunnier climate the south has that makes them more agreeable. Well i hope so in this case otherwise my fall back is Rinners (just a bit further):p

As of PM today. Audi Derby are denying that they know anything about the repairs. I have contacted Audi UK on several occasions previously and again they deny any knowledge of the repairs. I have 2 weeks left before my trip to Rinners. Come on Audi UK get some of this warranty work for your UK employees at least!!

I would say to you that you need to contact 5 or 6 dealers in your area....Derby..Sheffield...Manchester, Liverpool...even Lands End is nearer than Rinners. Some want to help and are grateful for the work (paid for by Audi) and some don't want to know. Audi are paying for the roof parts and any labour so communicate until you find some help. Chris Smith at Audi Worthing is good, call him perhaps. I am sure you do not need to drive to Bavaria.

Stoke Audi may also be worth a try. They are fairly familiar with the A2's so may well be more willing to help out than most dealers once you inform them of the warranty work.

Cheers Rob.

This is exactly why it would be helpful if we can have exact details/ copies of correspondence between forum members who are successful and Audi UK plus local Dealers - now a precedent is set there should be no room for any denial so backing it up with copies where others have succeeded is vital.

Possibility?

I have had an initial response from Audi Canterbury this morning as below regarding the OSS warranty repair. It looks mildly hopeful? At least it wasn't an outright no!

We are unable to advise if the roof will have any goodwill as Audi will
only look at these cases on an individual basis. We would need to look at
the roof, ascertain what the fault is then go to Audi. They may ask if the
vehicle has a full Audi service history to show customer loyalty.

If you would like us to further this claim please phone and we can make a
booking for you. the number is 01227 732700 ask for service department ,
don't let the reception divert you to the call centre as they will not
understand your request.

I would try some other dealers as well...they are being a bit cagey...They should know from your VIN number and registration if it qualifies. I had the same with some dealers. Some didnt reply , some said if/but/maybe and some wanted more info. Worthing were a lot more positive. Basically it depends what the dealer says to Audi...if they say it needs replacing and that your history is ok then Audi will cover the parts and labour to replace it. If you need an Audi service then get that done at the same time....you do not need a full history..just that it is up to date and the last one was done by Audi.

Is there an official Audi Bulletin then that states "A2s with NOSS to get warranty repair if under 10years old"? If we could get that then there is no way any Dealer can try and back out of it?

Just try some more dealers...when Worthing agreed to do it then I got emails from my local delaer saying they also could do it...you have to talk to people and find a helpful person...not someone who isnt really interested. Even if you have to drive 30/40/50 ....100 miles it is better than going over on the ferry and filling up 4/5 times. :)

I dont think there is a special bulletin...your dealer runs your VIN through the Audi computer and they let you know if you have the goodwill...

When I spoke to Audi UK, after they denied me an expenses claim for going to Germany, they said that any garage in the UK should honour the warranty.
It is a 10-year factory warranty and is therefore not subject to you requiring a full service history with Audi.

I have just spoken with Audi leicester. They are very interested in getting the warranty work for the OSS. Please give them a try as this is the first he has heard of it 024 766 75675.

i am going to try Crewe Audi as i they agree to OSS warranty repair, they will use thier swanway group team to do repairs, and they have a state of art bay just for Aluminium cars, did a great job for me (ryan et al) previously
This really is some great news if it comes off!

I may just give West London Audi a call next week to scope them out about it. Mine hasn't broken yet, but it would be nice to know!

Don't hesitate to check your's
I have checked my locking hooks and just like yours mine were not tight at all after the Rinner-repair. I could move them by hand easily. So I took out the sunblinds and tightened them myself. Must have been their week of loose locking hooks then:) Did you check yours Timmus?

Yes, I can easily pivot mine up and down, too. They never fail to engage properly, though. Is it not supposed to do that by design?
