Automatic light + Coming / Leaving home

Hi

it is great that you found that you have headlamp washers.
They ONLY operate when the headlights are on (whether automatically on or manually on.)

They are different to other cars that only wash the headlamos every 5 or so operations of the windscreen washers.
On the A2 they operate whenever the windscreen washers are held on for a couple of seconds (as long as the headlamps are on, of course)

So you may find your washer fluid needs topping up often.

So just use short bursts of the windscreen washers if you don't want to wash the headlamps as well.

I wondered when they came on, I thought it was every few operations of the windscreen washers but noticed they were coming on a lot more often the other week, the roads were particularly dirty so I was holding the windscreen washers for a long while each time.

Thanks for the explanation!

Thanks. Perhaps they always functioned but I never had the light switch turned right, since my Scandinavian dipped was always on anyways.

They spray really well the headlight jets, much much better than the crappy jets for the window. I wish I could swap them round :)

Even Audi acknowledged that the windscreen jets are rubbish. Later model A2s have updated washer jets. Myself and many others have updated them and they're miles better.

Cheers,

Tom

Well, I finally found back my old switch assembly so gave it a try, I mean to my idea to trim just the ring with the "auto" position and to glue it to the A2 switch trim.
I have to reckon that I worked very badly and that result can be much improved... even if from far, that's not bad.
Anyway, it works :)
