Head gasket

Oxy gets the 4 turbo to exhaust nuts but then there is still the turbo hanging from the head.
I found it OK to get on the turbo nuts from underneath the car with my long arms.and finger but one is almost blind, was hard but not.imposible with ratchet spanners. The three tur o to head nuts, well that's another story!! Failed at that, there's one at the back that's insanely buried

I have done two TDI head gaskets one A2 i bought the head gasket was leaking, The other A2 the cam belt lost teeth so i fitted another head, I used Elring head gasket and Elring head bolts bought from the same firm in uk £48.00 for both, The head will come out with the manifold and turbo. the exhaust flange bolts i used gas to heat the nuts The second A2 two nuts were rounded i have sockets that grab a worn nut but i had to use a hack saw blade to cut two nuts and a long chisel to free them i have a four post lift that helped to get to things under the car.

Sweet!
Was the leaking one pressuring and could you see where it had failed?

Did you run them for long after repair?

The one with head gasket failure i bought on e bay from devon the owner said it was using a bit of water, I bought the kit that shows any gas in the water which it did the one with the air lock, i did that one in october 2019 at 193.931 miles now just over 213.000, not done much milage last summer as put my 306td on the road to tow a exhibit to vintage rallys was using the polo sdi for towing, The other A2 i bought from a member in tiverton devon and put on the road last september for the wife to replace the polo sdi she does like the bose in it, i have never done a timing belt before i did these two as being a coach driver since 1980 one of the boys in the garage always did it for me, retired now so thought lets have a go more at home with my vintage tractors.

I will remove as much as possible to improve access. Heater intake duct, egr valve, expansion tank, camshaft cover, wheel arch liner, timing belt etc
