Heated mirrors question

Forgive my ignorance, I assume that you can't simply replace the relay and would need a new door control module?

I have replaced door control module and wiring and the mirror's guts, but what relay are you guys talking about and where can I find it?

The door control module is a small computer that control all functions in the door. It has 12V power feed as earlier mentioned. It activates different functions in the door by commands received from on CAN BUS (Hi or Lo) wires. When the Button for rear window heating is activated, ( in addition to turn on the rear window heating), a signal is sent on the CAN BUS with the command to activate mirror heating. The front door control modules are programmed to execute that command and an electronic relay inside the Door Control Module connect the 12 V feed to the two wires that are connected to the mirror.

If you don't get 12V on the 16 pin connector, pin 5 and 6 you have the following option:

  • No 12V on power supply to the control module
  • No incoming signal on the CAN BUS (then you have the same problem on booth doors)
  • A faulty Door Control Module

Thanks for the explanation, steaman!
