Pretty gutted :(

Right now I'm worried.

The quote :

I am so sorry to hear of the problem and now the cost of the repairs.

That estimate looks very comprehensive and is the kind that professional accident repairers will issue.

They will be very thorough and no doubt will do a good job. But if you shop around I am sure that you could shave a few hundred pounds off that bill.

Even then it is quite a chunk of money, but remember that you were due to pay a fair amount for the paintwork repairs anyway, so perhaps you could factor that in and it may then seem like a more doable option.
If the insurance company will pay out close to the amount of the quote, as a straight payment to you, then it might work out?

I do hope that they will sort out a fair deal for you.

Thanks Steve, would a respray in the same colour be about the same price?

A same colour respray of suitable (i.e. very good) quality would indeed be in the same region of cost, perhaps even more, prices vary so much, so it is difficult to be precise, but you would be very lucky to get a full respray for much less than £2,000 (but there may be some bargains around?)

To be fair quote covers all my paintwork scratches etc even the ones that weren't damaged by the roof tile, they gave me a private quote for the rear end including spoiler.

Typical insurance, still no assessor so have no idea which way it's going to go. My missus suggested if written off possibly get another A2 and transfer all the bits over bodykit, leather etc.. I'm unsure as of yet but I admit I have been looking and I have come across this one.

I love the red colour storm and I can imagine the Votex kit on it to :) obviously would have to get black leather as the red wouldn't suit. Same mileage as mine and a 1.4 petrol so not really an upgrade but I do like the petrols.

HURRY UP ASSESSOR!!!!!

Finally had the dreaded phone call that I have been waiting for, my little A2 has been declared beyond economical repair and is now a cat c :( I have bought the car back off the insurance company and I'm now thinking what to do next, I might get a tdi or a lower mileage petrol and transfer all the goodies to the new one. I was considering repairing my one but I'm unsure. Have to admit I was pretty happy with their valuation of the car which is £1880 and to buy the car back is £470, might just save a bit more cash and add it to the insurance pay out and wait until the right A2 appears, luckily for me A2 prices have dropped in prices recently. I will be going to AITP most probably in my A2 as I doubt I will find a decent replacement. Quite upsetting but theirs light at the end of the tunnel.

Sorry to hear your bad news Paul. Perhaps an ideal time to change to diesel (not a plug, mines a 5 seater).

In terms of continuing to use yours, I'm pretty sure that once it's been declared cat c you can't use it on the road again until its had a vic check.

Sorry it went this way Paul! I bought my car back at £490 just over a year ago so that's not bad. as you say, you can get yourself another A2 and swap over the bits which is a option however, at least you still have your A2 and is driveable, just don't look at the dent on the passenger side:)
Another thing is as your attending AITP fellow members can get a thorough look at your A2 and you'll able to get some positive feedback then take it from there.

wishing you all the best.

I spoke to the accesor and he said they are fading out the Vic check in the next couple of months, and that I will be able to continue driving the A2.

Oh Paul that's not good. Still at least you get to keep it and then get the fun of looking for a replacement. I'm surprised at cat c I would have thought cat d as its only cosmetic damage. I'm sure once we see it in the flesh at AITP we can all come up with some cunning plans.
Keep on smiling and see you soon. Mike

The thing is the damage is hardly noticeable. Will be fun looking for another one. The only worry I have is if the Votex kit won't come off as I've been told they can be impossible to remove. But then I have to consider maybe selling the bits on my A2 to fund getting a reasonably spec newer tdi.

Sorry to do it but if that is the case can I put my name forward for the votex rear spoiler. Shameless!!

With your concerns about removing the kit, I'm not sure how the sideskirts are attached but surely you could just remove the bumper as a whole with the kit attached.

Sorry to hear it's come to this result Paul,
Hope you get something else sorted very soon, there are a few nice members cars out there for sale so plenty to choose from!
All the best Jeff

As much as I would love to own a members car my budget won't really reach for one at the moment anyway. I have found one, it's 2004 but it has same mileage as mine which is putting me off.
