I doff my cap to Solihull Audi.

A superb dealer, polite, friendly, and eager to please. Obviously the price of servicing does pinch a bit, but my car was driven back to me by a truly lovely chap, who showed me through all of the paperwork and generally praised my A2 as 'one of the best he's ever driven'...(but I bet he says that all the time though ;)). It cost me a bundle but I'm now happy that Audi have given my new purchase the thumbs up, and its purring like a kitten. :D

Not an Audi dealer...but Stealth Racing are by far the most knowledgeable and professional independent I have ever experienced.

10/10 - Very Highly recommended. :D

Aylesbury Audi

Got my first service at Kidlington, Oxon and swore never to return and since then been using Aylesbury Audi in Bucks which I can highly recommend

Never known a dealer before to do things for free !! A stering fluid top up on one occassion (which involved bonnet and headlight removal) and headlamp alignment on another

Having done 175,000 miles and service every 20-30,000 miles they've had plenty of chances to get it wrong but have so far lived up to the expectations that go with Audi servicing costs !!

They do nice selection of courtesy cars too

Stockport Audi - Nice sales 8/10

OK service 8/10 (they got the price of the tyres but fitted them at the price they quoted on the phone)

Aftersales - Terrible 2/10. I bought the car as ex-demo and it had coke on the dash, I though nothing of this but two years later it appears that this coke had been spilt into the radio and it is now fubard. Not covered and they want £580 for the pleaseure of boshing a wireless in!

Anyone got a concert 2 that they want shut of? :)

Bradford audi.

Spare parts 10/10.

Very helpfull when i needed to replace all 3 engine mounts (my own peice of mind as there was a LOT of movement in them) and the tools in the boot.

Never asked if i was going to book the car in for them to do the work even let me in the service bay to watch a guy work on an a2 in for some work doing on it.

No pressure just walk in sort you out and have a chat pleasure to deal with.

Southampton Audi

I have purchased 2 cars from Southampton Audi (Chandler Ford, Hampshire) now and both purchases have been 10/10

Purchased 2nd Hand A2 two years ago

Really nice experience, polite knowledgable salesman
Well presented car
Decent test drive
All paperwork correctly completed
Took my old and knackered A4 in return (170k miles) and even paid me for it :)
Evening service shift, so you can deliver your car around 5pm and collect it around 9:30pm same day - very convenient for me!
Feels more like a family run business, helpfull and polite
Services are expensive :( but no more than other Audi dealerships

Yesterday the A2 engine lite came on during the drive home from work, drove into the dealership at 6pm, engineer was moving cars around, told him what had happened, he immediately brought out the Can Bus tester and checked the fault report, (confirmed to us it was an inlet manafold fault - possibly the sensor) and offered to book the car in for the following evening to be pulled appart to check.
I am sure many other dealerships wouldnt even have anyone there at 6pm, let alone drop what they are doing and do a quick scan to see what the issue was and show us the results without paying. Of course it will end up costing us money, but they are always genuinely helpful and it gives a comfort feeling that you are not being unduley ripped off.

A few weeks ago purchased new A3 1.9TDi Special Edtn E Silver / Dark Grey Leather
£35/year Road Tax 62MPG Average (Quoted)
700+ miles to a tank (even with me driving)

Once again Southampton Audi were really helpful. The salesman (Paul) was knowledgable, polite, well humoured, patient and not at all condescending even when I advised him I was going to test drive a BMW later that day (because in fairness it was already booked)
Worked hard to locate the spec we wanted, found a car to the correct spec just delivered to Readng Audi, negotiated swap of dealer cars and got the car in, modded and to us in 2 weeks.
Gave us a generous discount with only minor haggling (it was near the end of the 08 plate!)
We added a lot of extras (dog guard, load tray, reversing warning system etc.) and got around 33% off that as well.
PDI, finish and handover all 100% Everything we asked for was done - spot on.
Overall we really enjoyed the experience!!

In contrast, the same weekend we testdrove a BMW 118d just to compare. Told both dealers we wanted to make the decision that day and were looking for the best deal to keep us there, the dealer was condescending, wanted to sell us the car he had just had delivered rather than the spec we wanted, rather than offering a discount he would only quote list price and threatened us with a price hike if we didnt buy immediately...
When he phoned 3 days later i had great delight in (politely) telling him I had purchased an Audi because they had offered a much better deal, needless to say he actually got anoyed with me over the phone.....

Portsmouth Audi

Review of Portsmouth Audi - 0/10

I am sure they are very nice people, but DONT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR!

Everyone has their bad days, but like a doctor you really want to be able to trust the person dealing with your car!

I only used them because they were 2 minutes walking distance from my place of work.

Once when servicing my A4 they phoned me during the day and sugested the coolant needed changing. I must have been feeling flush so I oked the work.

On the way home down the M27 the hose fell off the radiator and all the water drained out. The RAC man at the side of the road said it could have happened to anyone - not!
I tried to call Audi from the roadside thinking (huh) that they might send their own recovery out. I just got through to the recetionist. She couldnt put me through since the service people were all busy. I asked that they call me back as I had broken down, she sugested I call the RAC, I explained that the car had just been serviced, she said she really couldnt comment and I would have to speak to someone in service - they called me back ..... the following afternoon.
I spent a pleasent afternoon shouting at the most senior manager I could find in the shop at the time.
Eventually to stop me shouting as I was scaring al the customers away (Saturday is a busy time for a dealership :D) they agreed;
To redo the coolant
To fully check the engine for damage
To do the nect service free of charge (labour that is)
Repay my RAC no claims bonus

That said, when I went to get the free service next time, they denied all knowledge and insisted I find the apology letter to prove the incident had happened. After considerable further shouting in the showroom once again they miraculously found a note of the incident and agreed to only charge me for parts.

On another visit there we two guys being shoulted at in the managers office, someone dmitted they had been throwing things at each other across the workshop (and peoples cars)

On another visit, (I should have learnt my lesson) they were servicing my A2, only they broke an ignition coil. As you all know they are like rocking hourse sh1t to get hold of so the car was out of action for a further 4 days, although they did give me a loaner during that time .....

Avoid Portsmouth Audi - cowboys with Audi badges!!!

Independent

Small independents is the way to go (their livelihood depends on their reputation). MONKS at North Baddersley (Romsey) is absolutely fantastic. He has been responsible for every VW and Audi that I have owned (when I didn't/couldn't do the work myself). Give them a try next time.

Isaac Agnew (Belfast)

We have two cars, a 03 allroad and a 03 A2. The service on the allroad has been great, but expensive. Can't say the same for the A2. Not great and expensive.

They did a spring replacement on the A2 passerger side a few months ago. I also asked them to check the driver's side. The obviously didn't as I found a broken spring there too and looks as though it's been broken for some time. There is still noise coming from the driver's side. The passenger side is fine - I did that one myself.

Simple jobs on the A2 seem beneath them. I get the impression the A2 is handled by apprentices as it's an older low value Audi.

Just my experience and others may feel different.

Southampton Audi.

What can i say poor, poor, poor Service.

Went in today with my bench seat problem and they weren't even interested in having a look to see if there is a simple solution.

The guy said he'd order in 2 new catches just in case, oh and it would be £95 + vat labour per hour to look at it.:(

Needless to say i wasn't left with much option other than to book it in, oh and they can't fit me in until the 22nd September.

Hopefully in that time i will be able to get it to move by myself and then i'll never take it down again.

Highland Audi.
Only bought parts, staff ( col and mark ) mean well.

But Hawcos have told them no discount,so its last resort for me even thought they are on my doorstep.
a real shame.

Hereford Audi
After originally buying the car from a dealer over the road, Vauxhall, the door was not a perfect fit. Took it to Hereford Audi, who originally sold the car and they refitted the door for free. A few loose bolts needed adjustment.
Servicing expensive but good communication and felt like my custom was wanted.
Still got to sort out the issue with the 5 year warranty on coil packs once I'm back from holiday, so I will update then.

service recommendations in central Herts?

Folks,

Can anyone offer me a recommendation for getting my A2 serviced hereabouts? (the Heart of Hertfordshire), as my expereince locally has been ... mixed (that's a euphemism)

I've been to Audi Hitchin - 4 times; although they got the work done (eventually) they also helped themselves to some small change that was left in the car on 3 of those occasions; when I complained about this, the hapless charlie managing the place suggested I contact the police, which did rather suggest the concept of Customer Service was an alien one.

I've also been to Hatfield Audi, with knocking noise from the front suspension area; their recommendation was new discs all round (and that'll be >£600 to you sir). The solution was rather more prosaic and very considerably less expensive; new bushes on the front roll bar.

So I'm looking for a recommendation for talented honest quality servicing that doesn't take the p*** in Herts.

Thanks in advance

Matthew

Apologies if this has been asked before....I've looked in the archive but couldn't find anything similar.

Few people discuss their dealers in the forum, so can I assume that most people are satisfied with their local dealer?

Could people rate their dealer out of 10 and say what they had done there eg. service, repair, puchase. and where it is:

I'll start it off:

Stratford-upon-Avon 8/10 Purchased car

How BAD is your dealer

My Local Dealer. London CHINGFORD AUDI -10/10 (yes thats MINUS 10)

Whilst the parts department are now usually helpful, (well just doing what their paid to do really) but don't forget the serious blunder on the cost of the wiring issue I had on my A2 project.

The Service department has p11sed me off several times now.

LAST YEAR I went in to the service dept to query the hinge replacement issue, After being sat there for several long minutes, I was told that I would be contacted in due course. Nothing has materialised since! I suppose because I hadn't really chased them up, with occasional calls to them so got nowhere.

Things got left till I walked in to the service department after visiting the parts dept on Friday 27th March. I spoke with someone else this time as the last woman had left and this was HER brother working on her desk named Chris. He couldn't find anything about the Hinge TPL and I found he wasn't prepared to 'listen to the customer' as I had all the info to hand saying he has to get it from Audi?! WHY?! and after waiting several minutes, he said he will look into it and call me on Monday (30th March 2009) so we agreed a call from him at 1:30pm.

No call was received so waited till Wednesday (01-04-2009) I called him at 5:00 and was told he is busy, and left my tel number and car registration at request of phone receptionist, for him to call me back.

Called again Thursday same left message as he's not available.

Awaiting ...(ain't gonna happen jock)

Now please advise me on how I should deal with this situation.
Should I think:

I have an old A2 and the enquiry from the dealers point of view isn't even worth the hassle of making a call back and they hope I forget about it?!

I don't drive an expensive Audi therefore my business isn't worth their time.

Is it because a more sinister reason?

All this despite me being personally responsible for persuading several people to buy several different Audi models, with the A2 taking lead ;), Begs the question why do I do it?

Sadly my experience with Audi personnel has been the pits and I thought Mercedes were bad, but that's another story.

Doesn't it make you wonder, manufacturers spend millions on building their products and advertising them to make us buy them, then leave it up to all the complete careless, thoughtless fools to represent them in their showrooms, leaving the conclusion of a complete waste of resources.

I'm not one that usually makes a fuss, But I think that I should put this into letter form.

Sorry about having a rant  but name and shame them is what I say!

Regards
SARGE

I've had similar treatment with my local dealer. They're busy and they're not making any money out of the hinge issue. However, last but one time I was in I actually got them to look at the hinges. Nothing found, they said, so I politely offered to show them. They then acknowledged the issue was present and said they'd call me back. Some days later I was in there again after no call back. I sat in front of the service receptionist patiently while she dealt with a customer who had broken the window of a courtesy car(!). Eventually she got someone else - he was really helpful, checked the details for himself and said it would be done FoC. I said I was possibly going to sell the car as I was bidding on a car on eBay that night... Ended up winning so will let the purchaser sort it out themselves and I will have to get the new one done (yes, it's suffering too).

Moral of the story is have PPP. Patience, politeness and persistence ;)

Thanks Mark, I shall give them one more chance before putting the boot in and throwing my toys out of the pram (never used that expression before ..lol).

:D

Cheers

Dealers never call back in my experience. Make a note to call them again - at least you don't waste your time expecting them to call you.

You'd think for £100+VAT per hour that at least they'd call back. The service adviser at taunton Audi just laughed when I said that. Nuff said.

I have to say that this was the same with Cardiff Audi.

Bought a VW rather than an Audi this time. Why? Partly because the local VW dealer was serially helpful with my anti-roll bar bushes - worth just over a fiver, when Cardiff Audi wanted £400+.

Best reason for not buying an Audi - having had one already and experiencing the dealer channel.

So a second hand A2 next, not from an Audi dealer, not to be serviced by Audi.
