Today I.....

Today I well actually yesterday I went down to visit the A2 electrical wizard that goes by the name of Tom Cunningham aka Timmus to finally get the Flat bottom alcantara steering wheel and colour DIS fitted to the white car.

OMG what a game changer, it makes it feel like you're driving a much newer car and yes it wasn't a cheap conversion but definitely worth every penny.

I can't recommend getting this retro fit highly enough, it's even got basic vagcom build in for doing diagnostic work and so much more 😮

Today I .. have 3 A2s back on the drive again.

Brought Cosmo back yesterday from a holiday at WOM where the oil chain and belts and various other worn engine parts were replaced as part of an extensive refurb, NTG box fitted, a/c brought back to life and various other jobs needed due to age visible when lifted (ARB, rear axle, wiper motor, exhaust) and sundry missing fittings from the underside. A smooth 5 hour drive back up the M6/M74 showed that many rattles and squeaks have also been left in Staffordshire. Thanks again to Rob and Marcus at WOM for their professionalism and attention to detail - this won't be the last trip there.
Hi Robin, how is the NTG and the new turbo?

Yep, although my FBMFSW isn’t quite that fancy, that and the colour DIS really is transformative

Hi Robin, how is the NTG and the new turbo?
subtle.

My drive back up last Saturday was reasonably smooth once I got past the Manchester/Liverpool area and sporadic snowfalls, spent some of the distance in 6th. Gearchange is very similar to my PTW. We then had immediate snowfall here so as the car not currently on snow tyres it stayed on the drive until Friday when our AUA (my current commuter) "failed to proceed". Or more pertinently, didn't turn over at all after a week of commuting without issue - same symptoms as when the starter earth stopped behaving 2 years ago, although thinking about it the start was a bit lazy the previous night driving home so possibly battery charge maybe dwindling a bit. Have had it on the CTEK since yesterday and all lights are now on so hopefully back to normal.

So I then drove Cosmo very gingerly to work and back - without issue and for the last couple of days. To begin with the power delivery feels slightly less punchy than my BHC, but the power feels like it pulls higher and harder through the rev range than previously, but very smoothly. Also I'm deliberately not hammering it, especially when new.

As mentioned earlier, one of the key differences in the car is how much tighter it all feels with a lot of rattles and squeaks no longer happening after WOM gave it some care and attention.

Welcome to the CDIS club, along with the six speed it’s one of the most useful upgrades along with the modern wheel with controls built in.

Today I …. Reconnected the battery (having to disconnect as a temporary solution due to failing CCM draining the battery ) and took it out for the first time in a couple of weeks for a gallop.- Could do with a wash now though !

Welcome aboard! Always nice to see a Jaipur Red, there weren't that many sold before they stopped offering the colour at the 2002 model year.

I've got a Crystal Blue one in much the same colour at the moment :) It's been my daily through this last week of perma-salted roads and yesterday did 250 miles up to Derby and back to collect daughter and her belongings from Uni. Just as well the screen washers eventually unfroze, they were heavily used after that. Heated jets doesn't necessarily mean the pipes leading to them are clear to deliver a spray! I also had screenwash in a spray-bottle, I had to stop and use it to clear the accumulated muck off the headlights a couple of times after it started to get dark on the way home.

Swapped the fuel pump on my T4 Syncro so I could have space for this in the garage. Brakes and suspension overhaul this week. OSS roof to look at, various sensors and all filters etc. amazing how much more space to work on it compared to a van

A blast from the past that advertisement. Anyway, some of you will have picked up on the fact that I registered interest in Paul’s @PaulA2 Tango Tank.

And here it is with the change of ownership complete, parked up at 2work Towers:

It’s a stunning colour and is rather deceiving to the eye. Here in person it’s Orange but in the pictures above it does look to be more Red in colour.

Really excited about starting a new project thread as soon as possible.

Kind regards and Merry Christmas,

Tom
