Non A2 content but today I was reminded of just how high quality Shell’s V-Power diesel is!
I’ve had an intermittent problem on my diesel current-shape Touran where the EML has been coming on. My trusted mechanic read the codes and informed me the EGR valve is sticking shut, probably due to being sooted up. For the last month the light has been on constantly - indicating the intermittent problem had turned into a permanent issue.
For context, since I got the car I’ve run it over the last 40k miles on the cheapest fuel I can find dosed with the Millers additive - so I was surprised until I thought about it - I’m sure the Millers does what it’s supposed to (keeping my fuel system clean), but it can’t reduce the soot content of diesel can it? This then covers the inlet via the EGR and gums the latter up I suppose.
I decided to try V-Power as a last ditch attempt to solve the issue without having to pay for the EGR to be removed and cleaned, due to it being the only forecourt fuel that is made from gas (gas to liquid) and therefore it burns with greatly reduced soot I believe.
Well here I am half-way through the 2nd tankful having driven the car fully loaded (top box, bike rack on the tow bar and with all the family) down French autoroutes to the Loire Valley at 70-80mph - with oil temps touching 105-110 degrees at times - and what do you know? This morning we got in it to visit an attraction and the EML went out as it should.
From now on I’ll only run it on this stuff whenever possible.
@PlasticMac will approve I’m sure.
