Today I.....

Had BOSE fitted to my 1.2 by the marvellous @timmus with a bit of help from @Proghound.

I was a bit pushed for time (stupidly booked it on my daughters 5th Birthday and had to be home for tea by 5pm which is 2 hours 15 away!) on what is a whole day job usually, but these two marvels got it done in 3.5 hours, meaning I even got to enjoy a spot of lunch with them before I left!

Thanks for the hospitality, excellent work, company and Sandwich. Great to see you both again.

Sorted the horrible vibration on acceleration by changing inner and outer cv joints driver side on my tdi90 veg car. its like a totally different car to drive, sooo much better and all for £45.
How did you get on with the cooling fan?
Mac.

gave the tow bar some proper use…..a 100 mile trip to go camping. I could hardly tell I was towing😀 I was surprised that it was happy doing 70 in 6th gear. (Mapped tdi 75)

Tested A1 window switch 8X0 959 851 B, it works.
Mounting part 8Z1(2) 959 521 has to be modified to accommodate the new switch as it is 2.5 mm wider.
Not yet finished, but here's the initial look.

Got caught out last monday by an unexpected oil service light in 500 miles on my dash (that year went quick). As i usually put 100 miles plus a week on the car, and am due to put at least 600 miles on the car next week (hols), I planned ahead and bought the service items to do the service myself this weekend. The oil filter (bosch) and air filter Febi bilstein arrived in super quick time, but the oil quantum longlife 3 fully synthetic 5w30 failed to arrive (stuck in bridgend!!), so i had to pick up some Mobil sup 3000 XE 5w 30 (meets vw 505 00/505 01 standard longlife 04) low emission stuff from halfords 5 litres for £35.
In between the rain i carried out an oil flush (wynnes) and oil service plus air filter, today.
I usually do a flush at every other oil service.
I know the longlife stuff is a bit of an overkill on a standard fixed service, But my thinking is if it's good enough for a claimed up to 30k miles then the price difference doesn't really matter for piece of mind, if i ever get caught out doing more than 10k miles per year.
I bought the car in april 2016 with 98k miles on clock, the car currently sits at 152k

Where did you get the joints from that's very cheap indeed!!

Today I've been doing a bit of research in to my cars history, and its been great to see the photos posted by A2Jay of my car in 2015 during the month he owned it for. Unfortunately, the history of work was lost by the owner he sold the car to (receipts not service book, thats still with the car) and I purchased it from. But, I maybe able to get some of those receipts back from 2015 if the garage in Norfolk still has the records.... Its worth a try! Privacy shouldn't be an issue, as I have contacted A2Jay and his name is on the service records. Perhaps this is automotive stalking? Pictures below are A2Jay ones from this site in 2015 after application of his S-Line badges.

Good luck. It's always a good selling point to have a folder with receipts to back up the service stamps and all/any work.
But with our cars being 18 years old and up, the service book/folder will look more like war and peace!
Nice car :)

I do the same thing too, use only the official Audi Quantum Long life 111 5w30 fully synthetic 507 spec oil and change it annually, which usually is at no more than 6k mile intervals but as you say if it's the best oil possible and lasts up to 30k, for the small difference in price it just makes sense, if only for peace of mind 👍

I would be truly amazed if anyone could show analysis proving the oil was still ok at even 2/3 of that mileage.

Off the cuff comment:
I followed my wife home the other evening, she was driving the 2003 A4 Avant and as she slowed and pulled over with the indicator on I realised just how good the indicators were before the marketing gurus decided to make them like postage stamps. (Example Honda Civic).
More and more have followed suite like some kind of epidemic making it even more dangerous as they are hidden with the light from brake lights, led or non led.
At least the A2 is from the same period so you can see them. Even my 15 year old made comment on how good & clear they were.
Thoughts.....

Amen to that! I've been thinking the exact same for a while. Some of them are no better than twinkling fairy lights. Even the ones like a ring with the side/brake lights inside them aren't great, when the inside is lit it's hard to see the outer ring flashing until you're quite close - possibly too close.

Asthetics & Marketing.
Someone at work today said her husband's car had more faults with items her old car doesn't even have.
