2 stroke oil in diesel...anyone tried it?

. If it keeps my TDI running smoothly and prevents build-up of deposits around the injectors tips, then it's a price worth paying in my opinion.

Tom

Please explain that to me? You are effectively burning an extra component in the combustion chamber .... oil. So why are there now reduced deposits?

The specific specification that is recommended appears to have a detergent effect. If you read the thread that Spike linked in the second post, you'll find references to an experiment performed in Germany ...with Octavia TDI drivers, if I remember correctly. It was Schnelletrecker who found it.

Cheers,

Can I suggest this thread is merged with the 'original' 2SO thread? We will end up repeating ourselves!

Mod edit: threads merged.

This is some damn interesting reading. Will try it out.
Will need to pop down to a shop and get some 2T oil any day now. Cheers for a awesome info and thouroughly check and try out of this method fellas.

I've just filled-up my TDI 75 with Shell V-Power Nitro+, a single shot of STP Diesel Treatment (200ml) and 200ml of Shell Advance VSX 2 two-stroke oil - quite a cocktail!

I drove approximately five miles before I noticed how much more quiet the A2 ran when I'd stopped at a junction, certainly worth the extra pennies for the benefits of it running more efficiently and cleaning the injectors at the same time!

The empty 200ml bottle of STP Diesel Treatment will be handy for decanting the required amount of VSX 2 (1L bottle) into each tank-full.

Thanks for the tip chaps

Tried this as well, bought 1L of Mobils best 2T(creme de la creme).
Already after 300km i could notice a much more silent & smoother engine. On coldstarts not huge difference yet but as a warm engine it's so much more smoother for now, that's what i can notice. Impressive.
Cheers chaps.

I have emptied a 1l Mobil 2T oil and has actually gone over to better stuff now. I buy my engine and fuel oil products from Archoil. Highly recommended. U need less of the amount in the tank as its more comcentrated but i got an even better effect.

this sounds good and will try this when i next fill up....now to rummage through all the 2 stroke oil in my dads garage thats been there for years! lets hope its the mineral and semi-synthetic and not fully :)

regards

You may have read it already but post 40 of this thread gives the optimum 2T oil spec for use in our engines.

Cheers Spike

Just pop to Asda (avoiding the scuffles) and get their own brand 2-Stroke oil for £5. It last about 5 full tanks

Based on test results, I wouldn't use anything other than 2-stroke oil of the recommended spec' - API TC + ISO L-EGC + JASO FC

Tom

Get archoil's stuff instead. Highly recommended. Use it on all my diesel cars and it works like a charm.
