Aluminium Fatigue

There's no harm in that but there's no guarantee of him being there again.

I'll see what can be done though.

Hi guys,

Spoke to my local Audi dealer this morning about my crack in my n/s door, they said they knew about the problem but didn't sound to intrested about the matter they asked me if I had a full Audi service history, which I replyed yes about it, it is only part audi history, the last two are indy's, so they said they might only be able to do it if is has a full A/S/H but they will look into it and get back to me later today.

After reading this thread there seems to be alot of problem's with this matter.

Should it matter that it doesn't have a full A/S/H?

They asked for the mileage on car and age.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Leo

Just got off the phone to my local Audi dealer and they said that they will do the work under warranty and should take a few days to do.

Would I be liable for a C/car do you think?

They going to get back to me about booking it in.

Good news Leo!, well done! hope you get it sorted soon. As for the Courtesy car, some stealerships are happy to give you a car, others are not, it's more important to get the car sorted in my opinion.

Cheers

how old is your car Leo?

As Mike posted it doesn't matter how old as its covered on the anti-corrsion warranty and thats 12 years, mine had no warranty i didn't buy it from Audi and still got the work done with a bit of a push ;), well more like just explained there warranty policy to them

Phil

I have left it with Mike, hopefully he can sort it.
You could book it into Ingrams in Ayr when your travelling from Prestwick Roy as per your recent PM Roy boy. They have done a couple now - so familiar with the job and no snags whatsoever - my job completed to a high standard. Shame Inverness Audi not playing ball but its likely to be lack of knowledge than anything else. It took Ingram a good while to locate the warrranty campaign code so they could claim on it. I think I posted that on here some time ago?

Hi all,

I have a reply from the local dealer relating to the warranty job they did for Ada:

TPL 2016707/6

I hope this is of some help if you are yet to have the hinges replaced or the local dealer is giving you the run around. If anyone quotes this, let us know if it was beneficial. Cheers

Here it is - dont know if its been of benefit to anyone yet. Let us know if it leads the dealers to anything! May give the 'big guns' a bit of respite :)

This is the bulletin in full:

Routine durability monitoring by Audi AG has identified a minor cosmetic flaw in the door
hinge of the Audi A2 (model year 2000-2005).
It has been discovered that the hinge can be susceptible to cracks on the outer non-structural
skin. To some customers this may lead to concern that the structural integrity has been
compromised – this is not the case.
Should you receive any customer enquiries relating to this characteristic please advise them that
extensive testing of affected hinges by Audi AG has confirmed that their performance and longevity
are in no way reduced by these surface cracks.
Replacement doors have been modified since September 2007.
Audi AG have produced a Technical Problem Solution (TPL) which has been published on ELSA -
TPL number 2016707/1. This TPL includes details of how to claim the cost of the repair. Please
note that all vehicles are covered - even if out of warranty - and so customers should not be
charged.

The two part numbers currently unavailable are the kits 8Z0 898 021 and 8Z0 898
022. Please postpone all repairs until all the parts are available. The other parts required are:
• 8Z0 837 349C
• 8Z0 837 350C
• 8Z0 868 243
• DA 001 730 A2
• D 001 001
• D 009 401 04
• N 903 675 03
• N 101 154 04
• 8Z0 898 021 (currently unavailable)
• 8Z0 898 022 (currently unavailable)
As soon as all parts are in stock we will issue a further announcement.

Please note the section I have underlined!

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry for starting this old post again- but need advice!
From reading the posts i think Audi are having me on. Went to my local Kings lynn Audi dealer, explained the fault- they had never heard of it. After a few weeks of waiting i phone them today only to be told that its a case by case thing and as it was not bought from a dealer and had apperently missed a service it was not entitled to the repair! Its a 2005 model with only 40000miles and both doors have cracked! They said they are getting me a quote from the body shop to see what it will cost to have fixed!

Whats my next action on this?

Many thanks in advance

Stuart

They are so full of S*** if you print out the post that Skipton two posts above yours and then see what they say.

Mine is a 2002 52 plate not bought from a dealer and they didn't even ask about service history and mine was done, all be it it took Mike's heavies to point out the highlighted text to them then it was all sorted FREE, with just a £10 admin fee for the courtesy car

If you still get no joy PM Mike (Skipton) with the dealers details, person you delt with, dealer etc...........and he'll sort it but hopefully it shouldn't come to that

Cheers Phil

Thats BS Stuart. Print off Skiptons post #415 and ask the dealer to make more enquiries with Audi UK based on that information. Hopefully that'll get things moving along for you :D

Edit: Oops! Me and the grimster posting the same stuff at the same time - ah well at least we're consistent! :)

Many thanks from you all for the quick reply! I thought i was being told rubbish but thought i would have another look at this post before kicking up a stink! Will pop in in the morning to see what they say!

Stu

What a suprise. Went to the dealership this morning and showed them the info, they basically said there was no good will and wouldnt be done.

Have now spoke to Audi customer service and was told that because the dealers are al independants its upto the individual dealer wether it will be sorted! they are now looking into it though so hope it gets somewhere.

I mention to the dealer about the TPL code and all they said is that is out of date as they are upto TPL 7 or something now?!. What a pain in the butt this is its only 4 years old!!

Stu :(

I went to my local Audi dealer this morning with a 4mm crack in each front door, I gave them the code relating to the fault found on this web site.

A technician looked at the car and told the service personnel that the car requires two new doors, the car is now booked in for three weeks time subject to conformation that the doors are a warranty claim.

So thanks everyone for all the info on this subject.
