Audi Driver International 2011

Just trying to get an idea of how much free time I'm going to have at Castle Combe this year. I've already got jobs lined up by Shezlee and MikemarsUK (and Terrywindy has just cancelled an auto dipping mirror install), but are there any others out there, that I've either forgotten or have yet to let me know?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi.

Last minute again, but I should be able to make it to the track this weekend!

Just been reading the ADI site which says about club paddock passes. Have we got any spare?

Regards,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

You need to make a £2 donation to the club to secure a space. Mike Skipton organises this event so pm him for avability.

Cheers

David

OK chaps and chapesses! Details on the forthcoming ADI weekend:

There's an advanced party who'll be staying at Swindon Hilton on the Friday evening, but for the majority of those who'll be making up the A2OC club stand, we'll be meeting up as usual at the Castle Combe Car Park, which is on Dunns Lane, Castle Combe, SN14 7 for those with sat-nav.

We'll be meeting from 08.30am on Saturday morning and travelling in convoy to the circuit at 9am, so don't be late! If you are late, or you know you'll be arriving later in the day, but have paid for the club stand pass, then please let me know in advance and I'll meet you at the gate to issue a stand pass separately.

Most folks have my number already and I'm not going to post it on here, but if you need it, then again, please PM me and I'll sort it out.

Please make every effort to meet up at the car park on the Saturday morning - we've had 25+ A2s in a row before now and it's a wonderful sight to behold!!

Fingers crossed that the wet stuff keeps away and that it's another grand day out for all.

Cheers,

Mike

Looking at the weather forecast looks like it could well be dry sunny but a little bit windy, hope you all have a great day, i'll have to think of something to do with myself as the forum will be dead that day lol

Let's hope it's like that this weekend Phil. It was like that last year. I will have to make sure I keep that kettle on to keep everybody warm:)

I don't know what I will do this year Phil without you to sit on my lap lol

Cheers

Brief report on this years ADI, before I fall asleep in front of the recorded F1!!:

Friday evening saw some delays (Ang & I were just in time for 7.30pm dinner, but Hotstuff & gang were delayed until very late by all sorts of accidents and roadworks on our glorious motorway network), then a lacklustre meal at the Hilton followed, pretty bland food and ridiculously priced drinks (£9.75 for a glass of wine!!!).

Then it was to bed in readiness for the early start on Saturday.

The turnout at the car park on Dunns Lane was as impressive as ever - not record breaking but in these recessionary times, 15 cars was a great sight to see.

We had a new position on the hard-standing at the circuit (where TT-OC were last year) and I think it was a better position overall - plenty of space for us and it was easy to arrange cars and A2OC flags to promote out presence.

As usual, I didn't really stop all day, but took a little time out to look around (several new stands this year, including Michelin and A1 Club) and have a brief look at the track action with R8GTs going round and some pretty impressive Mk2 TTs. One poor Skoda caught fire though, but the driver was OK.

The parade lap was restricted to club stand cars only this year, which meant that there was more track space, which was good and overall, I think that this year was better organised than previous years.

Then back to the Hilton, where we had a wash and brush up, then in convoy to a little eatery in Hook. Great food, great company and a good time had by all. I had to leave a little early as I'd arranged to be back at the Hilton for the awards part of the evening.

I'm pleased to report that the gala room was a much more civilised place this year - the organisation apparent at the track had been transferred to the awards. There were fewer people there than usual (a couple of tables down, which is basically our presence from past years), but overall, the behaviour was very good.

I am pleased to report that we were honoured with a Gold Award for 'Best Club - Information'.

I actually Tweeted a running commentary for the awards - if you follow 'audiodoody' you'll get to see the list of winners in full.

Then, nightcaps in the foyer and bed after a long and very good day.

Thanks to Mike-Sumo and David-Riverlad for their organisation, to all the stand attendees for making the effort to turn up and support the club, to Peter, Neil, Sally and all the other behind the scenes folk at AutoMetrix for putting the event on in the first place and to everyone at A2OC who voted and helped to secure the award.

Cheers,

Mike

PS The draw for the magazine subscription did not take place as usual, mainly because I was too busy, but also because I forgot! Also, Ben couldn't be there on the day, and as it's him that pays the A2OC bills, then there was little point. We've got all the details of those who made club stand donations and an impartial draw will take place soon, on Bens return from America.

Hey Mike, it was great to see you again and many thanks for taking the time to look at my funky lil A2 :)

I've not been here long but it's a friendly forum both online and in person.

Well done on the Gold Award!

It was great to see new faces and old. I had a great weekend and the weather was kind to us which was a bonus.

Thank you Mike and Vonie for the lovely bacon sarnies. Thank you Heidi and Malcom for the rides around the track. Malcom that was great fun in your modified A2 I never thought I would be accelerating very quickly upto 70 in second gear:)

Thanks to Paul and Mike for the pics.

And a big thank you to all the members who make it such a great club enabling us to win gold for information.

Cheers
