Hi folks,

What's happening on Friday evening, the day before ADI? Is there a small gathering of people for an evening meal?

I had mistakenly thought that the pub meal was on the Friday night, but of course it's on Saturday after the event itself.

Cheers,

Tom

I think Mike has us a table booked 7.30 for 8 on the Friday night. I'm sure they will squeeze in one more :)

Yes there is a gathering at the hilton swindon if any of you wish to join us. I will book a table for 7.30 / 8.00.
So far its about 10 people if you want to join us just let me know. Timmus I know terry asked and he had the details but I have not heard back from him yet. Cheers mike
Think the hilton do evening meal £20 per head its discounted to people staying but I know a few are not in that hotel

Fab, thanks Mike. I've just sent Terry a text to see what his plans are. I know he's working nights at the moment, so his shift might get in the way. Either way, I'm keen to join you as I'll only be at ADI 'til 2pm.

Cheers,

Tom

Was nice to meet some forum folk today, big thanks to Murdo and Ben for fixing some minor glitches on my A2 and sorting my forum membership.

Enjoyed catching up with Terrywindy and meeting Timmus too.

Thought the polished aluminium bonnet on the black A2 looked ace, sorry I've forgotten the owners name, awesome spec A2 there dude!

Thanks to Mike E & David for arrangements/catering/weather protection for the day. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces.

It was a successful day once again - despite the wet start. I think we had 21 A2s on site (although two were not on the club stand). We probably had the second largest collection of a single model Audi.

Congratulations should also go to one of our newer members, Nick, who was the lucky winner in our Audi Driver Magazine Subscription Draw.

Roll-on the next social...

What a great day/night! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great to see so many A2's together and catch up with people. The meal at the Bollingbroke Arms was great - good company, good food - what else could you want? :) Topped off with a lovely stay at the Hiton (Thanks Mike for the tip off for the good room rates!)

I'd just like to say thankyou to Mike and David for organising everything. Looking forward to the next social already! :)

Well Vonnie and i are back in sunny essex. We have had a great weekend--thanks to all that took the time out of busy lives that we all seem to find ourselves living these days.
The weekend started with a nice gathering of 12 of us for dinner in the Hilton on the friday night--shame that they have gone for the "carvery" style dining. But i think it was the exchange of banter that we were more interested in -plus fingers crossed on a dry day for ADI show. The next morning we were up at silly o'clock for breakfast and a blast to the meeting point(must remember it takes longer that 10 mins) With all the passes handed out we drove as a group the few minutes to the track-Always nice to see us on the road together.
Thanks to David and Murdo for getting there ahead of the main pack to erect the gazebo's and most importantly GET THE KETTLE ON. Once parked in two lines the heavens opened--i think all of us were thinking the same -"i wish i was still in bed". But it passed and the sun came out- MUCH BETTER.
As some of the older members will remember we use to have the pleasure of Heidi and Paul at the socials-with her cakes! well after Heidi has now moved to new zealand the cakes have just not been the same untill now so please stand up Vikky(pux) who had spent considerable time making us all cupcakes and boy were they nice, so thank you very much indeed.
It was great to see some new faces and A2's on the stand. Some members have been rather busy over the last few months with some rather special mods to their A2's that many were very keen to have a close look at. Hotstuff/Tony had his freshly painted bumpers and newly styled front bumper and grill-very nice and would not mind betting impossible to replicate due the rareness of the parts involved. Jon has also been busy polishing, i like a shiny car but Jon took shiny bonnet very literally-YEP it was stripped and polished aluminium. Very impressive and contrasted fantastically with his gleaming black bodywork.
A social wouldn't be the same without a car or two in pieces-always nice to help other members out with questions and opinions on repairs or mods. Timmus was kept amused stripping dash assembly's apart and repairing clocks.
I had a quick walk around the show and gathered the free stuff on offer--well its a car show, you always hunt free stuff. Looking at other stands of car clubs our little A2 was very well presented probably only out done by the TT Club. There were some very nice cars on show and also being pushed hard on the wet circuit. Once back i put my chefs hat on and cooked the bacon and sausages--Don't think i have ever cooked so many they must have been good. They kept us going till the pub meal in the evening.
Once again the pub did us proud again with nice food with sterling service-- they had laid two long tables out for us all 23 in total. The bollingbroke arms in hook is on trip advisor if you could take a few mins to leave a review.

Once again thank you to all of you for making all the hard work worth it. I get a bit stressed about the organising but once i see the smiling faces and hear the wonderful comments i know its all worth it. many thanks mike

I'd just like to say how great yesterday was, thanks to all who complemented my bonnet and grill and I'm so glad it didn't rain all day giving it a chance to shine!

A huge thank you has to go to Timmus/Tom, it was almost like driving a new car home! Not only can I now live in the present but a quiet present at that without a bit of plastic brushing my knee! You sir have seriously helped my sanity and now I have no excuse for being late to work!

And thanks to Mustang-owner/Jeff as well for giving my car a scan and putting some of my worries to rest.

Also thanks to all who organised it all, it was a truly fantastic day. Looking forward to seeing your photos from it Mike..

Now I must think of something new to do before the next show..

Thought the polished aluminium bonnet on the black A2 looked ace, sorry I've forgotten the owners name, awesome spec A2 there dude!
The above is me, thanks for the compliments!

Enjoyed meeting all A2 owners at Castle Combe for the first time. It was mentioned that a meet is planned in Milton Keynes sometime soon. Hope I can get my Cruise Control configured then (I already have the stalk fitted and have the loom extension). Also A2sumo where did you chip your car to get such good MPG? My A2 TDi SE only getting at best 53mpg. Will be donating to forum ASAP everbody was so welcoming.
